Greetings out there in [C] YouTube land, this is Morris Mann and today I'm going to do a real [N] special quick video
because I just got news, the sad passing of Kashif.
Kashif was like a big artist and songwriter in the mid 80's to 90's.
I love Kashif's stuff.
I [Em] mean the way that I write is kind of on his style because [Cm] I've always wanted to be a great [B] keyboard player
but unfortunately I was more or less a gifted guitar player than a keyboard player but I write 90% of my stuff on piano
and the inspiration that I got was from Kashif because this man wrote beautiful music.
[N] What else actually makes it very daring to me is the 80's and the 90's was my era.
As we get older we have certain eras where we just wish that they just stay encased in stone and just never change
because we enjoyed that period and you know realistically life moves on.
You have your heyday and then you move into another day or whatever.
But when I finally think back on the 80's and 90's Kashif is one of the first persons that I think about
because of the contribution that he made to the music world.
Because like I said I love his compositions, I love that structure, drum machine, synthesized bass, [Em] keyboard, chords and synthesized layers.
I mean that was I would say my favorite musical setup because I play guitar and [N] I love the sound of the guitar
but I'm really more leaning, I always lean more towards the sound of synthesizers because when synthesizers came about
it was like whoa, I can make [E] guitar sounds from a keyboard, I can make a symphonic [G] orchestra sound just from a keyboard.
And Kashif was a master at that [Ebm] because the majority of the stuff he did by [B] himself
but when you listen to it it sounds like it's a full band arrangement in an orchestra.
So we're going to dearly [Db] miss Kashif.
I just wanted to pay my respects because I wasn't going to post any more [B] things today, I'm a little bit under the weather
but when I found out that Kashif passed away I [Ab] said hey I gotta post this and pay respect to a great artist.
When I think of him and his compositions and this is just my opinion, I think of him up there with Stevie Wonder
as far as just the beautiful songs that he has written for himself and written for other people.
So again on that note, unfortunately Kashif [G] reportedly passed away, I think they said he passed away Sunday
but they just found [N] him I think Monday because he lived alone and I believe he was age 56, some people say age [C] 59.
But again unfortunately the passing of Kashif, just wanted to pay my respects and say [A] hey he's [Ab] going to be missed
and just want to say thank you for all the great music that [E] you've given us throughout the years.
Till next [Em] time take care, thanks for watching.
