[E] Try and carry on [Am] this way
Calling When You Get To Heaven is a sentiment of, [E] you know, in this lifetime, you know,
we can't be together, but perhaps in the next lifetime [Am] we can be.
And that's what that's about.
And that's why the song drags out for forever, making the [E] point, you know, this painful point.
But I don't think it's that.
I think it's kind of joyous, too, in that you're resigned to it.
And when we were recording it, [Am] you know, I knew in my head that the girls that we brought
in to sing, the McCrary sisters, to [E] sing beautifully, they were going to be singing this choir.
The band did not, you know, and so it was interesting to record it and to just [Am] keep,
you know, I just I remember saying, I was like, no, let's just build it and build it
and build it till we say, you know, till we stop.
[E] And it was such a powerful moment in the studio, you know, when we were done with that, that
I remember that being the last [Am] song of the day.
And I remember I remember just completely being drained because that was a live performance
from beginning to end and vocal [E] and all. Yeah.
And and then the next day when we brought in the girls to sing, the McCrary sisters,
that just really put the [Am] icing on that track.
And it's a it's a pretty emotional [C] track, but [Am] I think it's a beautiful way to end the
record and for the listeners, [E] you know, if if, you know, if they have enough stamina
to to get through to the end, you know, there there is [Am] there there is a little payoff, you
know, in that that there's this beautiful musical buildup at the end.
And so I've always [E] I like those kind of those kind of pieces of music.
And to me, there was, you know, with with this band, we can we can do I [Am] honestly feel
like we can do whatever whatever we want as long as it feels good to us.
And to me, that song, I think that was [E] that's just the way I heard it.
That's just the way, you know, it needed to be played.
I just couldn't imagine it any other way.
I personally [Am] absolutely love the belief and the faith in the message that's conveyed with those lyrics.
You know, it's absolutely unwavering.
It's [E] commitment.
It's all those great things, you know, wrapped around this dramatic sound, you know, and
for me, that's the [Am] most intriguing thing about it.
Again, the lyric, the story and how the music shades that and how it, you know, how it builds
that that [E] whole message.
So to me, that's how I see it.
And again, I agree.
I love that it's the last track on the record and that we end it with that.
That we leave [F] people with something, hopefully, that people can relate to and also [Am] perhaps,
you know, feel the same way and are moved and touched by it as well.
I think it's one of the most [E] beautiful things that we did on the record.
I absolutely love that track.
