When artists want to come to me, they don't want some shit they can go get from their own producer.
They don't want some shit they can go get from us, though.
They [Gbm] don't want some shit they can go get from whoever else.
[D] They want some shit they can get from me that [Dm] they can't get from [D] nobody else.
You know what I'm saying?
I say my [A] sound kind of like [Dm] the Memphis original down south [A] bounce sound mixed with the new sound too.
[Bb]
[A] [Bb]
[A] [Bb]
[G] [Bb] [F]
When I first got interested in music, I was probably [D] like 10.
[Am] I had like a piano and I used to [G] remake songs that I heard from the melody on the [C] piano.
One song I can remember remaking on my piano was Lollipop, Lil Wayne's Lollipop.
I remember playing the notes on [Db] it.
[Am]
[Dm] That's what kind of [F] just made me get more into making my own beats.
When I was like maybe 14, 15, I started putting music on YouTube and then that just kind of [D] escalated on.
Me and Block started doing music when we were about like 15.
Me and my brothers had a studio in the garage.
He's just coming there trying to record all my beats.
From the [B] Rover to the Shoes, everything we built up for doing the mixtapes together,
people were just catching on to the wave.
I had recently had just talked to ASAP, Rocky.
I had talked to Kanye.
Drake reached out to me and he was like, he was like, with me [G] and Block got going on.
So when he was like he wanted to do something, that shit was just unexpected.
I didn't expect him to just want to work with [E] us just like that.
It was just so [Bb] quick.
But I made that beat for [G] Drake.
[Gb] I just made him a beat pack and then that was just the beat he [A] wanted to ride with.
[Bb] So the first thing I [Ab] did was start out with the melody, the piano.
I just wanted the creepy piano sound type shit.
Then I just [A] fucked around with the notes on it.
[Bb]
[A] It just was a piano I just messed with in FL Studio on Nixis.
[Bb]
[A] [Bb] Then that's when I [A] put the brass on there.
[Bb] The brass is like that Memphis sound.
It's like that dog.
It's [F] melodic sound.
It come from Memphis.
[Bb] [Ab] Then that's when I added the bass to it.
The rattle, [A] that come from Memphis too.
[E] [A]
You gotta have that bass [Bb] when you talking about [Am] Southern Memphis music.
You just [D] gotta have bass to it.
It ain't just no [A] soft shit.
You just gotta have that punch [Bb] to it.
[N] So then that's when I added the hi-hats.
Most producers don't have they hi-hats loud.
I just had mine loud as hell.
You just gonna hear them.
That's one of my signature sounds.
You hear them hi-hats, you know it's my beat.
Then that's when I added the kicks.
On this song I used two kicks.
So this is the other kick.
It just was a hard ass beat.
I just wanted to go on and add some more punch to it.
The last sound I did was the hats, like the regular, like the tsss.
[A] It's one sound I'm not gonna play by itself because that's my signature sound.
But that's the sound that y'all gonna hear on most of my beats.
[Bb] [Ab] I've been using that sound since I was like 17, 16, 17.
So that's my signature sound.
That's what set me apart from everybody else.
It took like eight tracks.
I made it, it's on individually and just [A] put it all together and this is how it sound.
[Bb] [A]
I'm in school now.
I made everything while I was still in school and then look alive just [E] hit the charts and
it was just like people just started kind of just treating [A] me like a celebrity in a [Bb] sense.
[A] [Bb] [A] Since me and BlockBoyz started doing what we doing, we just kind of brought Memphis
together in a sense.
It was a lot of shit that divided Memphis, but then now it's like coming together now
as [Bb] we build up.
[E] It just opened the door for so many other artists.
[A] That's what I want to build my city up so help at least like Andre helped [Bb] build me and Block.
You just gotta keep it [A] going.
Just like cause and effect type of thing.
[D] [Bb]
[N] Man, I just got a lot of respect for Drake because he reached out to us and put us on
a bigger pedestal and didn't ask for nothing in return.
He ain't asked.
You know what I'm saying?
We ain't had to do like everything that was done was done.
He didn't ask for nothing in return.
