Clark [D] left the band shortly after its [A] release.
After Gore took [D] over songwriting [Em] duties, the group [D] released [G] several singles.

[F] and this track showcased [G] the record's [C] sociopolitical theme.

worldwide superstars.
The [Em] best-selling disc became their first to [Am] reach the Billboard 200 Top 10.
[Em] It also spawned some of their biggest hit [A] singles.

Songs of Faith and [Cm] Devotion featured both grunge [B] and gospel influences on their [Fm] dance and electronic [G] sound.

_ _ The [A] opus debuted on the top spot of both the [Bb] UK and US charts,
and yielded successful [A] tunes like Walking in My [Gm] Shoes and I Feel You.

_ _ The subsequent tour was documented in the Grammy-nominated concert [Dm] video Devotional,
which was [G] released later that year. _
[Am] Following Wilder's departure and Gon's stint in drug [Dm] rehab,
Depeche Mode [G] came out with Ultra in [A] _ _ [E] 1997.
It was on a tree set upon where it came.

It was another number one in the [G] UK and [A] peaked at the fifth position on the US Billboard [Em] chart.
Notable singles included Barrel of a Gun and It's No [Bb] Good.

Three years after releasing [C] the compilation, the singles 86 [Bb] to 98, the album Exciter came out.

_ It was followed by a tour and the 2002 live DVD One Night in [Ab] Paris.
The remix [Ebm] compilation Remixes 81 to 04 [Db] came out two years later.
[Abm] Depeche Mode then released [Fm] the album [Ab] Playing the Angel in _ [D] 2005.

[D] The disc charted within the top [F] ten in the UK and US and had [Bb] a hit with [Ebm] Precious.

The greatest hits collection The Best of Depeche Mode [Eb] Volume 1 came out in 2006.
Three years later, their [Em] twelfth record was released.
Sounds of the Universe received [C] mostly positive reviews and peaked within the top five in the [Em] UK and the [Gb] US.
