Start Jamming...
We do what we do.
And I think from the first record,
we've had this range that we play in,
from slow country-ish type songs
to, you know, punk rock.
Alfred Hitchcock.

[N] Well, you know, we were touring
with Social Distortion a lot
over the past couple years,
so we knew he was interested in the band.
And he just approached us one time and said,
I wanted to produce your next thing,
you know, whatever you guys want to put out.
We were going back and forth on whether we wanted
to do a record or not, and so the timing was really right
for us, because we wanted to put it out on EP,
and Mike was available, so it all worked out.
How's it been working with Mike?
Well, of all the records that I've done,
he's been the most hands-on producer
as far as getting involved in the songs and arrangements
and, you know, really bringing out the best
of each part of the song
and getting the best performance out of the band
and trying things that we didn't really think of.
Cool.
It's easy for me to take Mike's ideas,
knowing that he's been in a band for so long
and he's put out a lot of great records,
and I'm a fan of their music,
so I will absolutely take his ideas into consideration,
whereas somebody else who's just a hot shot producer
or a big name at the time
who's not necessarily in a band, a songwriter,
I would be less likely to take their ideas to heart.
What do you think it takes to make a great rock record?
Well, first off, you can't have a record
if you're not doing it for yourself, in my opinion.
If you want to have a really good rock record,
it's got to come from inside.
Then, of course, you want as many people as you can
to hear what you're doing.
It's got to be something you love to do,
because it won't ring true and it won't last.
