[G] [C]
Gimme red [F] lipstick and some [C] poppy red rouge.
[D#] Oh man, those songs are so much fun to play.
Yes, indeed.
Well, we're here today to share with you some of our memories and love of Mississippi John Hurt.
One of the things that John did [G] was in his right hand, aside from the fact that the thumb is going in the steady bass,
is he had these little, what I [D] call jump notes, where the index finger [B] would come in first and then pick the next note with the middle finger and thumb.
So it [G] would be kind of this motion.
And it's good to get that motion under your belt a little bit.
John, as usual, is thumping [A] on these bottom strings.
[E]
[D] [A]
[A]
So you're starting in A [F] and then moving up [F#] to what is like an A chord that is pushed up to the fifth fret.
I think you could certainly hear this [D] opening up that first string to get the E.
And those nice descending [Em] notes there.
[A] And here's that lick that sort of [F] goes through the whole song [Em] the way John played it.
[A] Long A here, barring across and putting your little finger up at the fifth fret.
Open [E] E.
