Alright, let's do it.
So the organ [Em] carries most of the weight, melodic weight, on that intro.
But the chords underneath it are G to D.
And I'm going to do it with [G] bar chords.
And also, [D] that's G to D, but also to match up to the original recording, they're a half step down.
So you just have to tune down a half step if you want to play along with the record.
[G] The intro.
Da [D] da da [F] da da da da [A#] da da [D#] da da da da [G#] da da da [A] da da da da da da da da da [G] da da da da
So it's [D] G, D, [B] then F to Bb.
So the E [F] shape to the A [A#] shape there on the first fret.
Then slide [D#] that up to where the root would be on the sixth fret, so that's Eb, [G#] to Ab,
so fourth fret, E shape.
And then [A] just scoot that up a half step.
Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da
B [F#m] on two.
[C#m] Yeah!
Alright, [G] intro again.
[D] G to D, G, D, D, [F] D, D, [A#] F to the Bb, [D#] [G#] Bb, Ab, [A] up to A.
So then that becomes an A [Am] minor, and even better, A minor 7.
So you can play it that way with your pinky off.
You can play it where the A string's muted.
And the keyboard, it's definitely throwing some minor 9 in there, or the organ, A minor.
A minor 7.
Add that, and that would be called A minor 9 if you've got the seventh fret high E.
Basically you think of A minor, F sharp minor, and I'm gonna play minor 7 as well.
So check it out.
A minor [F#m] 7, F sharp minor [Am] 7,
[F#m] [Am] [F#m] [Am] girl we [F#m] could eat lunch at
Chorus, G, A, D.
You can do it with bar chords or [Em] with the open chords.
[G] [D] You add that sus 4, which would be that third fret high E [G] if you're playing the bar chord.
[D] It is also, could be the eighth fret B [G] string.
So G, [A] G, G, [D] G, A, A, D, sussy, [G] G, [A] G, G, G, [D] A, A, D, [B] then B major, or B7, [G] then G to D.
Right [D] in, right on.
[E] E major, then add the 7, [G#] that third fret B string.
So [Am] from the top of the verse again.
A minor [F#m] 7, F sharp minor, [Am] same thing [F#m] again.
[Am] Try it, you [F#m] will never lose.
[Am] And your playing [F#m] will get higher.
[G] Alright.
[A] G, [D] A, D, [G] sussy, G, G, G, [A] G, A, A, [B] D, [G] B7, G, G, [D] D, G, D, [E] D, E7.
[A] And then now it jams.
They jam, they literally jam.
Psychedelic jamming.
I don't know how similar it was to the movie, the Oliver Stone movie, but if it was even
semi-close, it was a pretty crazy time back then.
Late 60s.
But so the jam now is A minor 7 up to B minor [Am] 7.
So just like, [Bm] [Am]
[Bm] [Am] [Bm] [Am] [Bm] [Am] [Bm] [A]
[Bm] [A] [Bm] [A] [Bm] [A] [E] [Bm]
that's just the minor, the [A] arpeggio for A [C] minor.
[A] [C] Sorry.
[E] [Bm] And then B minor.
[A] [C] [Am] [Bm] [A] [Bm] [A]
[Bm] [A] [Bm] [Am] [Bm] [Am] [Bm] [Am]
[Bm] [Am] [D] [Am] And then [Bm] the jamming, [Am] [Bm] that's a perfect [Am] type of [Bm] jam for A [Am] Dorian.
[Bm] So you can take the A [Am] minor [Bm] pentatonic, [Am] [D] [Am]
[Em] [D] [D] [Am] [Em] [Am] [D] [Am] and [Bm] to make it Dorian you [Am] add a half step [Bm] on the
7 of [Am] the E and B, [D] [D] [Am] then [Bm] you've got on, [Am] you've got the half [D] step on the [Am] 5 and 4 of the G and D.
[Bm] [Am] And the [Bm] pentatonic underneath it.
[Am] [G] [Am] [Bm] [Am] [D] [Am]
[Bm] [Am] [Bm] [Am] [D] [Am]
[Bm] [Am] [Bm] [Am] [Bm] [Am] [D]
