[Bm] [D] [A]
[Bm] [A]
[B] [F#m]
[A] [B] [Bm]
I'm a good [D] old rag and [A] ball
Now [Bm] that's just what I am
This [B] feeling [Bm] that you call [F#m] yours
I do [A] not give [B] a damn
[Bm] 14 songs we had, and we put [A] 13 on there, I think, 13?
Yep.
Was there one or two songs that we [Bm] changed up
[A] in the studio that we had played them
[Bm] kind of the way we hadn't played them before?
[A] I changed the drum beat [B] completely.
That new [F#m] rock song, [Bm] you changed the hell out of that [D] one.
Yeah.
[A] Away from a rocker to a [Bm] [A] bluesy kind of song.
Yeah, that was [Bm] awesome.
That was probably my [A] favorite moment in the studio.
[Bm] Maybe just messing about.
That's [B] probably the best thing about live off the [D] floor,
because [A] things like that can happen.
Old days are going away
This album's got a bit more rock and roll on it.
[Bm] There's some songs on it that [F#m]
[A] bring back
really good [Bm] memories for me.
We had decided to try out, a [D] good friend of ours
who's been with the [A] band since the beginning,
Evan Dunlop, he had [Bm] written a song that we always [A] played
around campfires in the past and [Bm] in hotel rooms
at [A] 3 in the morning.
[Bm] And we tried it out when we made the album,
[D] so I was happy we did that.
Yeah, [A] when you put [Bm] a song away for a while,
[G] it ends up being a lot more fun when you bring it back,
you [Bm] give it some time to sit.
[F#m]
[A] [Bm] Kind of like a good chili.
[D] [A]
[Bm] [A]
[Bm] [F#m]
[A] [Bm]
[D] [A]
[Bm] [A] Going back to the place [Bm] that I loved so [F#m] much
And the girl with the [B] softest [Bm] touch
[D] [A]
[Bm] What are you singing for that [A] thing at the end?
[E] I'm just starting [Bm] to try to figure out a [F#m] harmony.
[A] [Bm] We produced [E] this one ourselves,
so it has a little bit of a [Em] different sound.
And Jeff [F#m] was involved in this album,
[A] and he wasn't for the last [E] one,
so [F#m] that definitely affected,
[E] or changed the [F#m] sound of the album.
[C#m]
[F#m]
Influences are [A] everybody [E] from the Stanley Brothers
[F#m] to Bob Dylan and Otis Redding,
[A] Sam Cooke,
[F#m] [D]
anybody [A] else?
No?
The band, [B] Neil Young of course,
[F#] [Bm] Howl Wolf, [B]
Grateful Dead.
[F#]
Yeah, just all [B] types of music [Bm] we like.
All the good stuff.
No bad stuff, really.
[G]
I guarantee that, [F] there's no bad stuff.
[C] It's all good.
If I had the power to turn back time
[F] Golden age [G] when you were mine
[F] If I had [C] a dog, you'd be fine
The idea I think is to try to have every record sound different
for a number of reasons, [F] whether it be [C] instrumentation,
or [F] the setting, [G] or where we record,
or the producer, or the lack of a producer.
It [G] just gives every album a unique sort of vibe
[Bm] that unlike my [D] predecessor.
Without having to really reach for it,
[G] just automatically sounds different.
[D] [Bm]
Usually it's [F#] just kind of a basic [F#] story
[G] that could happen any time.
[D] Like All the Money I Had is Gone,
[Bm] that song, I didn't have [D] any money at all.
Or there's a song [G] like Frank Dupree
that's going to [D] be on the new record,
I've never murdered [Bm] anybody,
[B] never taken [Am] anybody up on a mountain cliff
and stabbed [G] them with a pen knife before.
But I like the [D] idea of it.
Come on my [F#] friends
[Bm] Throughout
[G] the land
[D] Take this [F#] advice [C#m]
from [Bm] me
[G]
[D]
[F#] Quit your drinking
[Bm] Let all the [G] brandy
[D] Don't live [A] like Frank [D]
Dupree
Now Frankie [F#] was captured
[Bm] And he went [B] to [G] trial
The [D] judge said
[F#] You'll never [F#m] [Bm] be free
[G] You'll [D] be hung [A] on the [D] gallows tree
[F#] [N]
