The Cheapest: Tube Amp On Monoprice chords
Start Jamming...
Today on Rooster Teeth and Gear we check out the cheapest tube amp on Monoprice.
[Bbm]
[Eb]
[Gb] [Bb]
[Ebm]
[Gb] [Eb] I was recently sent a link to
presumably the cheapest
guitar tube amplifier on
Monoprice.
Now for those of you who don't know Monoprice is kind of the place to get the ultra cheap stuff.
[Ab] You can get stuff with
presumably nice features, [B] but it may be [Bb] good and it may not be good.
It just kind of depends on what it is.
[Cm] So for $99 I got this guy from
Stage Right.
Stage Right Amplification.
This is a 1x8 guitar
amp combo with a Celestion speaker no less.
So we're gonna open this up.
We're gonna see how it sounds and
we will judge accordingly.
But first we gotta unbox [Ab] it.
I
[Eb]
[Ab] have it upside down.
Of course I do.
Why wouldn't I?
[Cm]
[Eb] Boy, that sure smells funny.
See it's upside down even though the box is right side up.
Monoprice.
Okay, [F] [Cm]
[Eb] all right.
[C] Smells terrible.
Velcroed in.
All right, so.
Oh, geez.
Factory's all over me.
All right, so here we are.
This is the Stage Right
[Cm] guitar
amp.
It's the
611705 to be specific.
Feels pretty good.
There are there is a
there is a single 6v6 tube and one 12ax7 tube.
I suspect this is probably voiced like
like a Fender Champ or something like that.
One of the small classic Fenders of the 1950s.
Which are legendary amps used on all sorts of
records in the 60s, 70s, 80s, actually [D] even [Eb] today.
I mean, they're still very popular amps because there's a lot of bang for the buck and you can do a lot.
They take good pedals.
They take pedals well.
I don't really know what takes good pedals means.
But there's also an 8-inch
Celestion Super 70.
So
I'm excited to kind of see what this sounds like.
So let's mic this up and see what [Bb] we got.
All right, [Gm] so to give it the best chance
[Cm] of sounding awesome, I'm using [Ab] a Custom Shop Fender Strat.
[Cm] That just sounds incredible.
I have the
the tone control is at noon.
[F] The volume is at 2.
[Eb] [N]
Here we go.
[A]
Let's try the neck position.
[G] [A] [N] Okay, that's [D] that's pretty good.
[Dm] [Gm]
[C] [F] [G]
[C] [E]
[D] [C]
[A] [Em] I'm gonna try turning down the tone a little bit.
[A]
Back to the [G] bridge.
[A] [Dm] [A]
[G] [A] [E] [G]
[Dm] [A] I'm turning the tone [N] all the way off.
[A]
[Em] Okay, that's better.
[A] [G] [Dm] [A] [C] [E]
I believe I'm at full cut.
So I'm rolling off most of the trouble.
[Gm] [G] [Dm] [A]
[G] Okay, so I
realize this isn't supposed to be some kind of crazy like a high gain amp or something like that.
It's a very, it's a very country [Am] amp actually.
[A]
[Abm] [Am] [G]
Those are my country looks.
I don't really know country.
But
let's plug in the cheapest guitar from Amazon
into the cheapest overdrive pedal on Amazon
into the cheapest tube amp on Monoprice.
I think we could possibly get some good results.
Yeah, all right.
So I'm using the overdrive as a boost.
[F] [Gb] Who knows what could happen?
Anything.
[Ab]
[F]
I'm gonna roll the tone [Gb] down.
[Ab] [B] [Db]
[B] [Gb] [Ab] [E] [Db]
[Gb] [Dbm]
[Db]
[Ab]
I actually cannot keep this guitar in tune anymore.
At all.
I should probably change the strings.
They're still the original ones.
Okay, real talk though.
This is actually a pretty decent amp for what it is.
I mean for a hundred [Cm] bucks, you have a tube amp.
I definitely could see this as just having an amp kicking around in a home studio for some country stuff.
I should also note there is an external speaker jack on the back.
So
[Eb]
you could theoretically plug in a 412.
But the circuit is still gonna be the same.
So maybe that'll add some low-end going to a bigger speaker.
[Ab] But overall I would use it for what it's meant to be, which is a real small
[Ebm] clean combo and there's a lot of uses for that with the reverb pedal.
[Cm] Could be super cool, honestly.
This amp is pretty loud as well.
I would actually call this amp fairly decent.
It's just real pure tone.
So yeah, there you go.
99 bucks, mono price.
I back it.
I give it the beard of approval.
All pickable links down below in the description.
You've been wonderful.
I've been Fluff.
Thank you so much for watching and I will see you next time.
