This lesson will cover a simple way I like to play the song, The Blood Still Works, [Fm] recorded
by Malcolm Williams.
This lesson will be done in the key of A flat.
[Bbm]
[Fm] [Db] [Abm] [C]
To begin the song, [G] there's an introduction that does a lot of bouncing around, and the
way I like to play that introduction [Fm] would go as follows.
[Bbm] [Ab] [Fm] [F]
Left hand's going to go from an F [G] to a G to [Ab] A flat [Bb] to B flat [C] to C [Bb] to B flat, [F] then back
to the F.
[Fm] Your right hand, A flat, C, F.
[G] Right hand, B flat, D flat, E, G.
[Fm] [Ab]
Right hand, C,
E flat, F, A flat.
[Fm] [G] [Ab] [Bbm]
Right hand, D flat, F, B flat.
[Fm] And notice how each time my right hand chord moves, my left hand does as well.
[G]
[Ab] [Bbm] [Ab] [Cm]
When my left hand gets to that C, my right hand's going to play that last chord, C, [F] E
flat, [Ab] F, A flat.
[Bbm]
Back to the B flat [Bb] with a familiar chord in your right, B flat, D flat, [G] E, G.
[Fm]
Back to
that F in the left with the A flat, C, F in the right.
So to play that first part of the introduction slowly, it would go like this.
[G] [Bbm]
[Ab] [Bb] [Fm] [G] One more time.
[Fm] [Ab] [Bbm]
[Bb] [Fm] [Db] Next part, take your left hand to a D flat, right hand along a B, [Abm] E flat, F, A flat.
And like I said, we're keeping this introduction simple as we're keeping the rest of the song
simple as well.
[Db] Bounce [Abm] on that,
[C] go to a C in your left [Bbm] with that B [Bb] flat, D [Eb] flat, E, [C] G in the right.
Back to that last [Db] chord.
