A pastor friend from our town in Florida brought the guys and [N] sung and knew we were getting
ready to record and said, would you like for me to consider recording this?
You just need a bunch of dollars to see if you'd be interested in recording it.
Well, they did, liked it, recorded it, back in the 70s.
And it didn't just blow anybody away when they first heard it.
Nobody thought it was going to really amount to a whole lot, but they did it as much just
because this pastor was their friend, as anything.
But they thought it was a nice little song.
We recorded that nice little song and it went to the number one position on the charts of
gospel music and stayed there for a record 18 months.
And it wasn't because the Black and Brothers sang it, it was because it just, that nice
little song just touched a whole generation of hearts and encouraged people.
I don't think any Black and Brothers concert would be complete without doing at least a
couple of [C] choruses of this.
