[C] Your album has done [Gb] so extraordinarily well.
[N] We're delighted with it.
It's been unusual [Cm] for us to be so high in the charts.
[N] We're not kind of a [C] [Eb] charting or [N] a pop band normally.
You were saying before that you were very surprised.
I can't see the first single, [Gm] Let The Night Roll On, was a real [Ab] killer.
I can't see why that wouldn't be [D] number one.
[C]
[N] Did you act surprised?
Modest [G] perhaps?
No, [C] surprised.
[N] I love to be [C] surprised all the time.
[G]
We've got really loyal fans.
I [C] thought the first week in, [N]
maybe that was just all fans going in.
But two weeks at number one, it's just like it.
[C] I am surprised because it means [Eb] we've gone across to other [D] audiences.
[Eb] We're obviously getting younger fans.
You've obviously got [C] a whole new horde of fans.
This is [A] the album which is called Beyond Salvation.
[N] There have been a couple of singles from it.
The latest one is called Backstreet Pickup.
Tell us about what that [C] is all about.
It's about [N] guitar pickups.
That's the way it began.
There's a guy in the States who was making El Cheapo electric guitars.
He needed pickups for them.
What he did himself was he wired up [G] the electronics of the pickup and needed a cover for it.
Next door to him was a [C] lipstick factory.
[N] He went in and bought [Gm] [Cm] 10,000 of these [N] lipstick cases and put the wiring inside it.
They turned out to be a brilliant pickup.
ZZ Top bought the mark personally.
That's right.
ZZ Top and Terry Manning both went [Cm] for it.
When we [Ab] were in [N] Memphis recording the album, all Terry could talk about was his lipstick pickup.
He's got all these great guitars.
I noticed you spelled it wrong with Backstreet, but still that's close.
That was the Perth influence when [Em]
[Eb] James Morley, our new bass [C] player, joined us.
[Eb] It was his idea to [N] change that.
You're touring with that single, of course.
You'll be playing that with Cheap Trick.
[C] Yeah.
With the big concert this time.
[G] That'll be great.
[N] We've done a couple of tours with Cheap Trick, including working in Europe with them.
Right.
We've worked with them in the States.
I think they're a fantastic rock group.
Well, it's going to be a great show.
We're going to play right now Backstreet pickup.
You have to watch it because rolling across the bottom of the screen will be the dates for the Angels and Cheap Trick tour, which will be right around the country.
