[E] The Tennessee Three, the sound behind Johnny Cash.
From his early stardom to his last [C] years as a performer, Johnny Cash chose [A] only to work
with one band [E] and depended upon them to provide him with a unique sound that would come to
be recognized by millions [B] of fans all over the world.
[E] Hello, I'm Bob Wooten.
I've played guitar for Johnny Cash for 30 years.
[B] [A]
[Abm] Bob Wooten provided a unique boom-chicka-boom guitar that classifies most [G] of Johnny's songs.
[Ab] A couple years after Johnny [E] passed away, I had a call from Minnesota to come up and play a show.
At first, [Ab] I was a little hesitant about it because I didn't want to get on the bandwagon
with everybody else.
So I [Eb] went up and when I did, [Ab] I realized how much I [Db] really [Ab] miss being on stage, how much
I miss the songs [Eb] and the [Ab] sound, and most of all, [Eb] how much I miss the fans.
[Ab] [Db] Love is a [Ab] burning thing [Db] [Ab] and [Eb]
it makes a [Ab] fiery ring.
[Eb] [Ab]
[Eb] The [Ab] music of the Tennessee Three is [Db] as [Ab] important to the [Eb] sound and successes of Johnny [Ab] Cash
as his own voice.
[Eb] In 1954, Johnny Cash and two gentlemen [Db] from Memphis [Ab] [Eb] got him a band together.
It was called Johnny Cash and the Tennessee [Db] Two.
A few [Ab] years later, it went into Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Three.
And that's what we are today.
We're the Tennessee Three.
We travel all over the world and we have [E] fans come in as young as six years old that know
the words to at least a couple of his songs.
[A]
[E] But the kids are what really just touched me.
I had one little girl, she was about six years old, that knew every [Ebm] word [E] to Ragged Ole Flag.
I just thought that was marvelous, that she would take the time to learn that song.
And so I told her, [Abm] when I come back next year, I want you to [E] come on stage and do it for [A] me.
[E]
But the fans are everything.
Without them, we'd be sitting at the house.
And we continue [G] to go on and we plan to keep going [Ab] too, as long as we can.
[G] In 2006, the group released a new album [Ab] titled The Sound [A] Must Go On and began touring the
world again, [E] with initial stops across America and Canada.
Future tours of Europe [Bb] are planned.
[B]
Sometimes during the show, I look out into the audience and [Bb] I see people [E] with tears in their eyes.
And they come up to me after the show, just want to hug my neck, you know, big old tears,
you know, saying, thank you so much.
I [Em] had the best time ever and it's such a pleasure to see a band that brings together
all sorts of [Db] generations.
[Eb] I [E] took my dad and now I'm taking my mom to the Tennessee 3.
And at the end of the show, we go out to our favorite part, is going out and talking and
meeting the fans, you know, signing autographs, [Em] having pictures made, asking me questions,
you know.
Saw the movie of Johnny Cash and [Ab] now to hear the music is just one fantastic [A] experience.
When you come to see the Tennessee 3 show, [E] one thing you can expect, and that is a decent show.
[Ebm] Grandma can [B] come, the grandkids can come, the babies can come, [Bb] [E] the preachers can come
to our show because it's a family show.
And we're very, very, very proud of it.
And when you come, you're going to hear a lot of Cash, you know.
We guarantee you some Cash.
So, [A] come on out and see us.
It's life altering.
[Em] It's huge.
You know, it's not an experience you receive from a lot of bands, so it's [Gb] just
[B] And they're super friendly.
Go and see the Tennessee [Gbm] 3.
[E] They rock the house.
You get a chance, come out and see them.
You'll have [A] a great time.
[E] Also, when you come to see our show, I tell stories.
All the songs that Johnny Cash wrote tell stories.
Some of them are true stories.
Some of them are just fun stories.
But we tell the stories that go along with the songs.
And I just [B] almost guarantee you, if you come, you'll have a good time.

Because [B] you're mine.

[Abm] [A]
[Gbm] I find [Em] it very, very [B] easy to [A] be true.
I [E] find myself alone when [A] each day is through.
Yes, [D] I'll admit that I'm a [A] fool for you.
[E] Because you're mine.
I [A] walk the line.

[A] Because you're mine.

[B] [A]
You've [E] got a way [Gb] to keep me [A] on your side.
[E] You give me cause for love that I [A] can't hide.
You [Am] know, for you, I'd even [D] try [B] to [A] turn the tide.
