[Em] [D]
[E]
My defeat ain't whiskey [A] legs
[Em] Coming at me like a subway train
Do you remember that song?
Yes.
Wrote that with Gary Louris of the [E] Jayhawks.
And we, actually you two just [G] started jamming.
And you guys came up with a cool riff.
We had written a few songs together and kind of were done for the day
and just messing around.
At the end of the day, [Gm] you kind of stumble [Bm] across something.
[Em] Some of the most fun tunes to play are ones that you write that way.
They're just kind of afterthoughts.
[Gbm] It felt [Em] like it just had a Roadhouse aftershow drunken vibe.
So the lyrics kind of went from there.
Susan and Gary just started spouting out just random weird stuff.
Well, they started playing.
[G] And when I started [Ab] singing, the first lyric I made up [A] was
[E] Muddy feet and whiskey legs coming at me like a subway train
Riddled language [A] fills my ears with pain
I'm [Eb] laughing out loud [Em] because I feel insane
And the reason, it just came [A] out.
But I was thinking about [Am] aftershow.
You know, you hang [A] out with fans and everybody's drinking.
I don't know who's more drunk, the band or the fans.
But sometimes you get to these festivals and [Am] it's all dirty and muddy and [Abm] dusty.
And everybody's talking but you don't understand what they're saying.
And then you're just laughing because you're [B] so overtired [E] and feel crazy.
[B] So it was just sort of that sentiment of hanging out with crazy people.
And it's fun.
It's a fun [A] adventure.
And it was just kind of a silly take on the song.
