[A] What joy, [E] what joy for [B] those whose hope is [Dbm] in the name of [A] the Lord.
I grew up in revival night after [E] night after night, you know, the big Jesus [B] movement.
And I was a little itty-bitty [Db] cross-legged on the floor [A] watching God move and watching [E] people really worship.
So that's part of my heritage and that's deeply ingrained in [A] me.
But, [E] you know, I did [B] not
I've been in Nashville for 22 [Ebm] years and my whole adult [Eb] life here.
I never had a church or found a church that worshiped like that.
[Gb] And so I had been [E] very disconnected [Eb] from that part of myself for pretty much my [E] whole adult life.
[Bbm] [E]
And in 2008 I got to be part of a [Eb] DVD taping at the Ryman Songs [Bb] for Worship [E] for Time-Life.
And it was Ricky Skaggs [Eb] and Sonja Isaacs and Rebecca Lynn Howard and Richie McDonald and
I'm going [E] to don poitras.
[Ebm] I'm going to leave out people, [Eb] but I mean people that I love.
And the purpose for that [E] night was [Ebm] to [Bb] [Gm] sort of [Bb] reclaim the Ryman for its [E] original purpose.
Which, you know, it was built as a church [A] where people could come and [Eb] God could move and change their [E] lives.
And so [Bbm] the people who were putting [F] this together wanted [Eb] it to be a night of like [E] true genuine [Eb] worship.
[G] And, you know, after I lost [E] my deal with Capitol, I'd gone through a pretty [F] rough stretch there.
[Eb] And got pretty lost [E] and had said I will never stand on the platform of a church again and sing.
Did [Eb] not want to be in [Bb] church.
I wanted God, but I didn't [Eb] want anything to do with [E] Christians.
[F] But there was a long journey [Eb] there and I ended up [E] singing at this thing at the [B] Ryman.
[Bb] And it was the first time I'd stood on the platform of a [G] church to [Ebm] sing any [Bb] kind of Christian music [Bbm] in [E] probably like 12 [A] years.
[F] And Lenny LeBlanc was [E] there, whom I absolutely adore, [D] like one of my heroes.
[E] And [F] I was doing two songs that everybody [E] knew, but they were new to me.
Because, you know, everybody had been in [F] church but me.
And [Eb] so they asked me to do Breathe [E] and Revelation song.
And I got up [F] and I couldn't even listen to those [Eb] songs without losing it at that point.
[Gb] I got up and Lenny starts playing the intro, sweet [E] little Lenny.
[D] And it was like I was 18 again, standing [E] in front of people to [D] sing for the first time.
My whole body [E] just started shaking.
[D]
And tears just started [Gb] [E] rolling down my face.
[Bb] [Abm] And the presence of the Lord just felt so [F] strong.
[Gb]
And so it [Em] took me a little bit to compose [E] myself.
And [Bb] Lenny's just playing the intro over and over.
Susan will get [G] it together here in a minute.
[Gb]
[Bb] And [B] I made it through those two [Gb] songs, but somewhere in the process of it,
it's like the Lord just reached down inside of me [E] and He just pulled all the junk out.
[Bb] And He changed me that [D] night.
[Eb] [Bb] And it was just [B] amazing.
It's one [G] of those things, like you hear that [A] that happens to people,
but you can't ever [Bb] really like genuinely articulate [D] it
until [F] you know [E] that God has [Bb] reached down inside of you [F] and changed you.
[Gb] [A] And so
[Eb] that [A] changed the [E] course of my life at that [Gb] point.
That was June 1, 2008.
[E] And
[D] Ricky [F] Skaggs that night, you know, at the end of the night,
he's such a big [E] teddy bear, like a grandpa, I just love him.
And [Gb] he came up and put his arms around me.
[F] He said, The Lord wanted me to [Gb] tell you He healed you [E] tonight.
And of course I started bawling again.
And he said, Do you know that?
And I said, I do know that.
He said, The Lord [A] has healed you tonight and He's put you back [E] on your path.
Now go walk it.
[B]
I said, I [A] plan on it.
