Super Mario Bros. - Theme Song (Piano Tutorial Lesson) chords
Start Jamming...
Hello guys, this is Eamonn from Soul Music, and in today's lesson,
I'm going to teach you how to play the Super Mario Bros.
main theme,
the overworld theme, that very very very catchy theme that pretty much everyone knows
if they know Mario.
[Db] So here we go.
Give you a preview, it goes like this.
This is what you're going to learn.
Check it out.
[D] [G]
[C] [F]
[C] [Em] [G] [C]
[D]
[G] Exetra, okay?
Let's get [N] right into it, okay?
Very catchy stuff.
Very very fun, okay?
But it's not that easy, okay?
You need to get your right hand
with pretty good agility to play those double notes most of the time on the right hand.
Anyways, here we go.
Let's go ahead and learn it right now, okay?
Here we go.
So the first part goes like this.
Right hand goes double notes.
Okay, remember one thing.
If you can't do the double notes and you find it really difficult,
what you can do for every double note, just do the higher of the double notes, okay?
So you know how it's two notes, right?
Just do the higher note out of it, okay?
But anyways, it's great to learn this harmonic series of notes because it sounds really good.
Okay, so first part goes like this.
F [Db] sharp and E twice, and the third time.
And then F sharp C [C] double note, and then F sharp E [Db] again.
And then up [Em] to B G double note, and then down to [G] single note G.
Again, that's the only single note for the right hand for the whole lesson, okay?
One more time.
It goes like this.
So right hand goes F sharp E [Dbm] double note for three times,
and then [C] F sharp C, and then F sharp [Gb] E again, and then B [G] G double note, down to G.
That's it for the right hand, okay?
So once again, remember what I said.
If you can't do the double notes, just do the higher [D] of the two notes [Gm] like that.
But it doesn't sound as [E] good, okay?
Here we go.
Here we go.
Let's go ahead [A] and do the left hand for this first part.
All of the left hand are single notes.
So that's the easiest thing about the left hand, [E] okay?
So here we go.
Left [C] hand starts on the D down here.
[B] So middle C goes [D] down to the D here.
So what we have, you got D for five times.
One, two, three, four, [G] five, up to G, down to the lower octave G below.
That's it for the first part of the left hand.
[Em] One more time.
It goes like this.
So it goes [D] D, E, D, D, E, up to [G] G, down to the lower G.
That's it for the first part, okay?
Once you get the first part, [N] the two hands together for the first part goes like this.
Check it out.
So pretty much [Eb] every single right hand double note matters with every single left hand [Bb] note, okay?
So it just goes
[D] [G]
Awesome, okay?
So it [Ab] really sounds good if you play those double notes, okay?
[D] [G] Like that, okay?
So if you can't get the double [D] notes, just do it individually like this.
[G] Okay, it just sounds a little empty [E] if you do it like that.
[F] But anyways, let's go ahead and move on now to the second part, okay?
So second part goes like this, right hand.
Starts on the E, C [C] double note, and then down to C, G double note,
and then down to [Em] G, E double note, up to C, [G] A double note, [Bm] D, B double note,
and then D flat, B [Bbm] flat double note, and then C, A double [F] note.
Like that, okay?
One more time.
[F] One thing that you can remember, there's only one double note that is not a kind of six apart, okay?
That [Dm] is the C, G double note, okay?
That's something
it's like a trick [A] that I have for you so you can remember, okay?
Check it [G] out.
So all of the rest are six, like [B] E, C, E are six.
And then C, G is the one [C] that's not a six.
And then the G, [Em] E, six again, up to C, A [Am] double note, which is six again.
And [A] D, B is a six.
D [Bbm] flat, B flat also is a six.
And then C, A is also [F] a six.
Like that.
So that's the pattern for you to remember.
[C] The C, G is always a fifth, okay?
So that's the only time.
Okay, anyways, so
[A] like that, okay?
So as I [E] said before, if you can't do those double [D] notes, just do the higher of the two notes.
[B]
[Dm] But it's more empty if you do it [F] that way.
So you'd rather [C] practice hard on this.
[A] Like that.
So that's the right hand.
Left hand, we have these single notes, okay?
For the second part.
So it [Em] goes, G, down to E, [C] C, [F] up to F, G, G flat, F.
Okay, yeah, one more [Em] time.
So it goes G, E, [F] C, F, G, G flat, F.
Like that.
So once again, every single both hand [D] notes are played together.
So [C] just like [F] that.
[F] Sounds awesome if you play those double notes and the [Gb] left hand [C] bass notes.
[F] Like that.
Awesome.
So that's the second part that we learned, okay?
So yeah, so back to back, the two parts we've learned so far will be played like this.
Check it out.
So [E] it goes like [G] [C]
[F] that.
Now, moving on to the third and last part of this lesson, okay?
So once again, we start on C, G.
[E] Remember, C, G is the fifth.
Same [Bb] thing as I told you before.
That's the one that is not [Cm] the sixth, yeah?
And then all the other ones are sixths, pretty much.
It goes up to G, [D] E, double note, which is sixth.
[Em] And then up to B, G, which is another sixth.
And then up to C, A, [F] which is another sixth.
Down to A, F, which is another sixth.
B, G, which is another sixth.
[Em]
Down to G, E, which is another sixth.
And down to E, C, which is another sixth.
[B] And then up to F, D, [Dm] which is another sixth.
And another sixth down to [A] D, B, see?
So good with these [E] patterns.
So it's for you to remember, [G] the C, G is not a sixth, [D] it's a fifth.
And then all these are the sixths.
[G]
Like that, okay?
So yeah.
The main thing is, [N] if you find the double notes really hard to jump up to,
use more of your wrist.
Because [Em] if you don't use your wrist, it's really hard to navigate onto them.
[Em] [G] So it's a lot more easier if you bounce to the [C] keys.
[B]
That's it for the right hand, okay?
[B] Left hand for this third part, this is what we have.
[E] So starting with E down here.
E up [C] to C, up to E, the higher E.
[Dm] And then F, [E] D, E, [C] C, [G] A, B, D.
Like that.
That's the left hand.
One more time.
So it [E] goes E, [C] C, up to [F] E, F, [E] D, E, [F] C, A, [Em] B, D.
That's it for the left hand, okay?
So yeah, once again, every single note on both hands are played together.
So it just goes [C] like [F] [Em]
[C] [G] that, see?
Just like that, okay?
Whoops, wrong time, so
[Dm]
[C] [G] That, okay?
[E] So yeah, this third part will be a little bit harder because of the jump.
[C] The
This one, just gotta practice it.
Yeah, the first two notes, practice it.
[F]
[D] [G] Okay?
[D]
[G] Yeah, okay.
Anyways, [N] it's a matter of practice.
Do it slowly, then build up the speed, okay?
So yeah, back to back, all three parts of learning this lesson will play like this.
And especially, the first part is only played once, right?
And then the second and third part, you can keep looping the second and third part.
Because [Em] that's actually a section by itself, [Bb] essentially.
So it just [D] goes like [G] [C]
[C]
[Dm] [D] [B] [C]
[C]
[Dm] [G] that, okay?
Awesome stuff, okay?
So [N] yeah, what you can do, as I said before,
if it's truly just too hard for you to like
Even if you spend a lot of time practicing those double notes on the right hand,
if you really can't do it, the thing
Just do these [A] single notes, okay?
So like
[G]
[C] [D]
[G] Yeah, [Eb] still sounds relatively okay, but it doesn't sound as [E] the double notes
because that's the full [B] harmonization of the original Mario Bros overworld thing, okay?
So yeah, have fun with it, okay?
It's pretty awesome stuff.
So yeah, go ahead, practice slowly first, then build up the speed as I said.
And yeah, you [Em] should be able to do it, no problem, okay?
But anyways, yeah, if you like these type of step-by-step [G] lessons,
make sure to check [Ab] out the rest of my channel
because literally I have multiple thousands and thousands and thousands of them
for you to enjoy and learn from.
So most likely, you can find your favourite song to learn on my channel.
And [D] also, I have a few other Mario sound effects and Mario themes that I've done in tutorials,
so you can learn it for yourself as well.
I actually [Abm] did the other overworld theme as well.
The um Which one?
The Super [F] Mario World.
Yeah, overworld theme as well.
That's really famous as well.
So [B] there's a tutorial for that one, and you can learn that one for yourself as well.
So yeah, that's pretty much it.

[F] One thing that you can remember, there's only one double note that is not a kind of six apart, okay?
That [Dm] is the C, G double note, okay?

[F] Sounds awesome if you play those double notes and the [Gb] left hand [C] bass notes. _

So [E] it goes _ like _ [G] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [F] _ that.
Now, moving on to the third and last part of this lesson, okay?
So once again, we start on C, G.
[E] Remember, C, G is the fifth.
Same [Bb] thing as I told you before.
That's the one that is not [Cm] the sixth, yeah?

B, G, which is another sixth.
[Em] _
Down to G, E, which is another sixth.
And down to E, C, which is another sixth.
[B] _ And then up to F, D, [Dm] which is another sixth.
And another sixth down to [A] D, B, see?
So good with these [E] patterns.
So it's for you to remember, [G] the C, G is not a sixth, [D] it's a fifth.
And then all these are the sixths.
_ _ _ _ _ [G]

That's the left hand.
One more time.
So it [E] goes E, [C] C, up to [F] E, F, [E] D, E, [F] C, A, [Em] B, D.
That's it for the left hand, okay?
So yeah, once again, every single note on both hands are played together.
