Well needless to say that was of course Sugar Sugar.
Buddy Archies release in 69 became
a huge hit.
I always thought it was a fun, [F#] relatively easy, but much fun song to play.
[D] Now in this lesson we of course take a look at everything you need to know, which are
obviously the chords.
Only four involved there in the key of D, the 1-4-5, which would be [G] D, G, [A] and A major.
And there's one chord out [G] of the key which [C] appears in the verses, C major.
And that's really it.
So even if you're a total beginner, [D] it is indeed a very doable song.
So it's [G#] not about the [G] chords,
because indeed, [C#] it's just this.
It's more about what you do with this hand.
Because also with
strumming, which is not hard [D] as well, still you wanna
[Gm]
[D] If I wouldn't do that, [F#] dampening the
strings [C] there and giving it its percussive sound, you would [D] get this.
[G] [D]
[G] Doesn't sound bad, [D] but it
really makes a difference what you do with this hand for sure.
So I'll give you a close-up [E] look
how to do [N] that.
Another thing, there is this signature riff, a melodic riff in the choruses.
You [D] wanna play that.
As in, you just [A] hear it.
When you play and sing a song,
if you wouldn't play it, [Em] you would sing it, or you would hum it, or anything [D] like that.
It is just too attached to the song.
And actually, it is not so hard, because those notes really
appear [D#] in the chords, as you actually could have seen earlier [D] in this preview.
So it is a matter of
picking out those notes with this hand.
So again, like I said, [C#] the song is not about the [D] chords,
not really that is, unless you are really a beginner.
But it is definitely about this hand.
[E] Okay, so we break that down as well.
Another thing, how to transpose.
Because if the song is
too high for you, or too low for you, or anything to fit it [E] with your vocal range,
then it would be very nice if you know [G#] how to do that.
So I do spend a segment talking about
[C#] transposing and how it works in [D#] other keys.
And also, how to play this signature riff then.
Like I said, all those notes are in the chords, so if you would play it in the key of C,
it is still in there.
Or if you play [E] it in the key of G, [N] it is also in there.
Or in the key of E.
A doesn't
It could work, [A] but it gets really [E]
high.
So I decided to [G#] skip that one.
[D] However, all the other keys do work, which [E] are the guitar-friendly keys.
Anyway,
