[Ebm] [Em] [Gb]
[C] I was just picking up the [A] phone to call you.
[E] [Dbm] I'm just very excited [A] about my first day in [E] the studio on my solo album.
[Dbm] [F] [C]
[Am] [G] [F] [C] Passion and Warfare is reaching its 25th anniversary, which is [G] extraordinary to me.
[E] It's a great honor still being [Dbm] around 25 years after a [E] record like that, and [Dbm] seeing that the record still has [D] juice.
[B] When I made Passion and Warfare, I locked the door, and there was only one
well, besides my wife, who would occasionally come down.
I just had an engineer, an intern from France, Pascal, and that was it.
It was just this fiercely intense focus.
[D] June 29th, I'm sitting here.
Three days now, [F] trying to lock up the 3M machine.
So that I can get a perfect click track on tape.
[Ab] My [B] plan was to make a [D] record of songs like the [F] Attitude song.
Just all over-the [C]-top crazy guitar stuff.
I don't want it to sound like something that somebody did, so I focused more on some of the eclectic things.
[Bb] [F]
[Bbm] [B] Are you [D] putting this on the album?
Maybe.
What's [G] it called?
[A] [D] We're working on a title called Ballerina [A] 1224.
[D] [Ab] [C]
[Bb] [F] [F] [Bb] [F]
[G] I'm going to put it [D] on [A] [F] [F] [B] [E]
[N] the album.
[G]
[Db]
The goal was to follow an exciting idea, and ideas would come like that.
[Ab] I'm in my studio working on Stolen [Am] Erotic Nightmares.
I'm [D] [E] looking through this book of CD sound effects.
I'm going to put some [D] sound effects in, and then double them on the guitar.
[E] Never been done.
[F] It's just beautiful.
[Gb] It's complete freedom.
It's in the moment freedom.
[Eb] Go with whatever you're feeling and hearing [Ab]
right there, and just build it out.
It took a long time, but it was just a glorious, [Bb] beautiful project.
I'm working on [E] The Riddle.
That's even the name of it.
I'm going to do the [Db] backwards guitar part.
[N] Oh, [Dbm]
[Eb] [Cm]
[B] [C] you're good.
[D] [Em]
[Eb] It [D] [Em] was my impression that this music that I'm doing, there's no home for [G] it.
There's [F] nothing like it.
[B] Nobody's going to hear it.
[Em] It's my own little secret, but I have to do it.
I [A] wasn't signed.
I didn't have anything.
[Am] I just turned my back on what I thought [B] fame, [Em] fortune, money, and it was okay.
Little did I know [C] that that's the [D] thing that people [C] want in an artist.
They just want you to [G] really dive [F] into yourself and be as honest as you can so that they [G] can enjoy [E] it.
That's what I was doing, and I didn't [Em] realize it.
So there was these diametrically opposing [G] emotional frames of mind, [A] passion [Gm] and warfare.
[Dm] The animal, [A] I'm trying to make the guitar solo [Dm] longer and louder.
It's so [Gm] beautiful to [C] have an idea [G]
and then work hard to bring it into reality
[Dm] and then have it come out better [A] than you could have possibly expected.
Have it come out so powerful, all you can feel is [G] tremendous gratitude.
[G] When it goes [C] beyond the mark, you just [G] know that you had [F] little to do with it.
You just let it [C] go, and the [B] great composer in the [Em] sky or whatever really took the [G]
hands on it.
[Am]
That's what you are there.
