[C] Well, I knew about the bluegrass [E] world and I had been, [Em] you know, listening to it for
a long time.
But, you know, a great thing happened to my interest in bluegrass, which was the Internet,
because you couldn't [C] find music.
[G] It's so esoteric.
But when the Internet happened, [C] you suddenly could find records.
You know, there was a folk [G] music [C] movement in the 60s, which included the Kingston Trio,
included [F] Pete Seeger.
So I [C] started hearing the banjo a lot.
Earl Scruggs [F] [B] solidified it.
[E]
In my world, there was nobody prior to Earl Scruggs.
He's to me the founding father of three-finger bluegrass.
Even the claw hammer players that I discovered were after Earl Scruggs.
In [Em] Scruggs style, you [E] pick up on the strings, and in claw hammer, you pluck down with the
back of your fingernail.
And you don't wear picks.
And it's very complicated.
[Em] I mean, both are complicated.
[E] I didn't have people to practice with, banjo.
I did play alone.
And that led to me developing kind of my own style and writing songs.
Me when I get to town, I'll stand on the sidewalk with tears flowing down.
Tears [Em] flowing down.
[E]
For she is the one that I love to look on, the acme of kindness and perfection.
She presses my hand and she says she loves me, which I find an admirable [Em] peculiarity.

The poor, fat old banker in the sun parlor car has no one to love him except his cigar.
If I were the head of the church or the state, I'd powder my nose and just tell him to wait
