Start Jamming...
I had to learn all these songs.
There's loads of them.
I haven't played some of these, obviously, for 40 years.
My mind isn't going, thank you very much.
It's not that.
It's not that.
It's not that.
No, no, no, no, no.
[G] I had to learn them.
I had to go through the set.
I realized that in those days we made LPs.
[Db] [D] LPs, you know, in violin.
[N] That's 18 minutes a side.
[Eb] I was reading them.
We realized when we finished mixing the tracks, Alan Parsons, my engineer and I, that [N] Made
Me Smile was a potential single.
Who'd have known?
It was Jeremy Clarkson put it, me.
Clarkson put it.
What did he say about me?
I was watching it.
It [Ab] was so funny.
That talked to you.
Let's [Ab] face it, he said, he's eking [D] out a meager living from [G] one song.
[N]
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
That was the week it went global.
[Eb] That's funny.
[G]
[Gb] [N]
And I thought, I'm not going to sing that.
It's track five in this set of live.
Do that song.
Why would I do it here?
And play the rest of the show to a half house?
[G]
Every morning I used to walk into Abbey Road.
We made the album in November and December 74.
And every morning I would walk in with a new song for the guys.
Which we would record mostly.
It wouldn't finish.
It wouldn't be a finished product at the end of that day.
Obviously, it didn't work that way.
We'd make a backing [Ab] track and get the basics down.
[Gm] And I'd go in most mornings and sit [N] them down and routine them in a sort of semi-circle
with guitars and piano.
[B] And one morning I went in with it.
And the thing I can demonstrate for you is the way I presented it to them 41 years ago.
It didn't have the chords in it that have the solo over.
I wrote those later and I said to Alan Parsons,
that's going to be a tenor sax [Gm] solo.
And in the room, the only other person in the room [N] that overheard this was Jim.
A shy and retiring lead guitarist.
I'm never going to meet one of them.
And they were so
He said, let me try that on acoustic guitar.
Why not?
[G]
[G]
[E] [G] You've done [F] it all
[C] [G] Broken every code
[F] You [G] called the rebel to the floor
You [F] spoiled the game
[C] No matter [G] what you say
[F]
[C] For only metal, [G] what a bore
[Em]
[G] Blue [F] [D]
eyes, [C] blue eyes
[F] [D]
How come you tell so [G] many lies?
[D]
Come [F] up and see me
[A] Make [C] me smile
[G] Yeah, yeah
[D] Boy, [G] I'll do what [F] you want
[C] Running wild
[G]
There's [F] nothing left
[D] It's all gone, [G] I'm run away
[F] [D] Maybe you'll carry [G] for a while
It's [F] just a test
[D] A game for [G] us to play
[F] [G] Win or lose, it's hard to smile
Show
[F] [D]
[F] [C] me yourself, you [G] have to hide
[Dm] [Em] Come [F] up and see me
[C] Make me [G] smile
[Dm] Whoa, [Em] I'll do what [F] you want
[G] Running wild
[C] [G] There [Dm] ain't no more
[G] [C] You've taken
[G] everything
[F]
[D] My belief [G] in Mother Earth
How [F] come you ignore
[D] My faith in [G] everything?
[F]
I know what [C] faith is
[G]
And what it's worth
[F] Go [C] away, away
[G] [F]
Don't [C] say
Maybe [G] you'll try
[Dm] Come [F] up and see me
[C] Make me [G]
smile
[D] Whoa, I'll do what [F] you want [C] Running [G] wild
