Start Jamming...
Say your name and like, what you do.
Hi, [Gb] I'm Jake, from the Jicks.
I'm a Jick.
[Abm] Yeah, Steve [A] Mouthmas.
Mike Clark.
I'm Joanna.
We're here at Amoeba to show you [Abm] what's in our bag.
It's a great [Em] honor for us to be here at [Bm] one of the best [E] stores in the world.
[B]
[Abm] [E]
[B] [E]
[B]
[Abm] Let's go [E] first with Jake.
What do you say?
I just got a new TV, [E] so I'm going DVD crazy.
And so this is the new [Gb] Steve Coogan series.
[Bb] Who are these guys?
[F] Captain Beefheart, road crew.
[D] They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.
[Bb] They didn't die.
Didn't they?
[Eb] All four of them [N] got into jazz funk.
This is the story of Father Yod and Beverly Hills hippie commune.
They made some really crazy acid albums.
It was a little cult.
[Bm] They had a place called The Source.
It [Em] was a [D] vegetarian restaurant in Hollywood.
And they drove around in a Rolls Royce.
[F] It was like the commune.
Yeah, and then they [Ab] moved [B] to Hawaii, as all good [E]
commune, failed commune people do.
[Ab] This, I [C] think, sort of, [G] just looking at psych music blogs, I've seen this record.
Janet has that record.
It's good, yeah.
Won't you take your time to [D] break my [G] mind and love me, babe?
It's pastoral and stuff.
And [C] again, just to not, you know, not, you know, in this day and age anyone can go to any [G] psych blog
and get any mp3 of any record.
But even though it's not original, I still kind of like to have something you can read and look at.
Okay.
[D] I got this record, which I don't know anything about.
Ricky Illy, Longa, and [Em] music.
I got that, man.
I trust that.
[E]
I don't [E] know anything about Zamrock, but I will.
[Em] You guys know this Langley Music School.
I thought it was good for my kids, maybe.
In the 1970s, [B] a music teacher in British Columbia recorded his students [Em] performing.
And as a keepsake, he made vinyl copies of the recording for everyone in [G] the class.
[C]
[A] Sing-along stuff.
It's really fun.
And then [C] this is out of print.
I lent it to [B] somebody.
They never gave [N] it back.
I wouldn't trust no words written down in no piece of paper,
especially from no Dickinson out in the town of Machine.
You're just as likely to find your own grave.
[Gb] [A] Gun Club record.
I've put Sex Beats on the [B] jukebox many times.
Never owned a Gun Club record, though.
[A]
Sex Beats, [F] go!
[A] [E]
Jeffery Lee Pierce, Punk [Dm] Rock Hero.
[Gb] [B] I recently saw the movie Who Put the Bomb?
[A]
[E] [D] [B]
[A] Sir Green Tea.
What do those do?
Antioxidants.
Very powerful antioxidants.
[E] It's like one of the best life on the road documentaries.
It's all about just sort of like taking vitamins and [Ab] having hotel room dance parties.
So that reminded me of them, and I don't have this record.
[Gm] [E] This is some metal [Ab] that y'all helped [C] recommend.
Leviathan with a Split with Zastler.
[D] [G]
[Ab] [Dm]
[Gb] [Em] San Francisco [Eb] Angry [Bb] in Metal.
[F] I'm on a huge XTC [G] kick.
Spinal Loop for me to turn down.
I can see the witness to her frown as they do the spans.
Violin with the [C] sensory profit.
[Em] I've been borrowing this for a while now.
I'm gonna give it back.
[Bb] I'd like you to meet Rufus [B] Harley, a great musician who, believe it or not,
plays jazz, both cool and hot, on, of all instruments, the [Eb] bagpipes.
He was like the only [Db] jazz [Eb] bagpipist from [Db] the 60s.
[Gb] And it's got a cover of Chim Chim [C] Churri, which maybe is kind of hopping, [Fm] kind of funky.
So [Gb] just to fill that niche of jazz [G]
bagpipes.
This [F] is a book [N] about, or photographs, from [B] Haiti during the carnival.
Maybe a little doo-doo.
[F] [Bm]
[C]
And this band, we've actually covered one of the songs [Am] on this record,
[A] but I've never heard it.
[A]
[B] I'm actually excited [G] to hear [B] the original [D] non-jix version [A] of the song called Every Day.
[B] It's a great album, [D] I can tell you.
[A] Good job.
All right, [D] I'm done.
[Eb] Thanks for coming to see me, bud.
Thanks for having us.
Thank you.
[C] [Ab] [Eb]
