[Gm] Yeah, Going Midwest, I remember writing that like, [Eb] I think it was back at the tour bus
at the Lime Kiln [Bb] Theater, that's kind of when it came together.
And [F] I just finished reading The Great Gatsby for like, you know, I hadn't read it in years.
[Bb] That was kind of like, for me, that was kind of like the coda to The Great Gatsby.
I was like thinking like, you know, he's like leaving New York, you know, and he's going
back home and he's seen all this, you know, go [Eb] down and do this part of his life and what
he's doing right now, you know, and that's kind of what that song [F] is to me.
It's like, you know, bidding that part of it goodbye, [Bb] maybe going back to your past
a little bit or leaving [F] what you thought was [Gm] your future [Bb] behind.
We went [Eb] in and recorded that song [Bb] and we just, it was magical, you know.
[F] It was funny.
Our manager, Dolph, [Bb] [Bb] he called us about a week before the session, he was like, I wish I
could be there, I wish I could be there when you're recording Going Midwest.
And I was like, I didn't really click.
I was like, OK, yeah, I know, I wish you could be there [Eb] too.
And sure enough, we went and recorded that song and Woody [Bb] and Mike just went right through
it, just in one [F] take, you know.
And we were listening [Eb] back in the control room, [Bb] you know, and everybody was just like
emotional.
I was just like freaking weeping.
And, you know, I was like, oh, that's why I wanted to be here.
Like you seem prescient or something like that.
But [Eb] yeah, that was that was power.
That was a really powerful moment.
And that was kind of the moment [F] in the studio.
And I was like, yeah, man, [Bb] Joe has got us [F] doing exactly what we need to be doing.
[Eb] I mean, I kind of felt that [Bb] before.
But, you know, when you have something like that, then you're like, yeah, that's where
we need to be.
[C] That's how we're doing.
[Bb] [F]
[Eb] I'm going to be back like waves out [Bb] on the sea.
[F] I'm going to be in West Bay.
[Eb] That's where I [Bb] ought to be.
