[C]
[E] [C]
[E] [C]
[E] [C]
Okay, we're gonna slow this [Gm] down, and I'm just gonna show you the the simplicity of this lick
Another thing Brad does it sounds so hard when you first hear it because it's usually at
135 beats a minute you know
But when you slow it down you realize there's only two shapes in this particular example, [E] and he's he's [C] this songs out of sea
[Eb] Okay, and
He ends up it just in the [E] pentatonic scale here, [Gm] [C] [G] okay?
[F] Obviously I'm not showing you the entire solo
that's in the habitual techniques that not the solo, but the intro and
Basically, it's it's too easy, and it was kind of irrelevant for the sake of showing you a hot lick
To put those other pickup notes in [Gm] so we're just going from the G where it gets cool alright, [C] so one two three
four
[A]
[G] Okay, it's just kind of like a bluegrass [B] G run
[D]
Okay, but he's just [G] changing it a little bit so on the downbeat.
It would be done [C] so one two three
four
[A] [B]
[G] [A]
[C] [G] Okay [Gb] and the interesting part about this is I'll go ahead and show you the lick
[D] [C] [G]
[Em] [A]
[Cm] [D] So
All
[E] [D] right [E]
[C] [D] [A]
[Am] [G] the interesting part about this is
They stay in the 5g here
[C]
Okay for another few measures
But what he does ahead of time is he goes into this because he knows this is home base anyway, okay?
the C [D] pentatonic
[C]
Okay, so he's coming up here ahead of time two measures ahead of [E] time
[D] [Ebm] [C] See they're still in G, and he's playing out of the he's thinking from the C
Pentatonic right here because that's [Ab] where he's going to end up anyway.
I [Bb] thought that was a cool little [G] little tip a whole
Session can be done on thinking ahead and at 99 times out of 10
I'm playing in the next I'm playing two or three measures ahead of myself
Okay, and just I guess if you if you knew music theory and things like that you can explain it better
But just in my simple mind
I'm always thinking
Where's the next chord and I'm gonna go ahead and just borrow notes from that next chord scale
While the band's [Bb] still in G.
You know it makes you sound all advanced and things
Sweating all right [C] so one two
[E]
[Am] [Gb]
[C] [D]
[Em] [G] [C]
[Am] [G] And right there he's using [B] his G bender, [C] so he's [D] just holding
[A]
[Bm] [C]
[D] [E] [Cm] Okay, that's a little ear twister, but it's [Ab] cool
[B] [C]
[D]
[A] [Gb]
[Eb] [Am]
[D] [C] Sounds really good right so
[D] Those two positions right there is all you need to know I hope you got a lot out of this
It's a fancy lick you can you can use in a lot of different songs a lot of different situations
Something that I don't think even Brad would be afraid to do is if this song was maybe in D
Okay, and then the [A] five goes to a
[D]
Okay, I really think he would do something like that.
He's done crazier crazier things [Abm] so
[Bb] as you know from from the habitual techniques DVD is
[A] These open strings at random that he plays
Are really just for you know syncopated and
The delays are set right and there's some distortion on there, so it might hide the badness or the wrongness of these notes
[Db] He's just made an art [D] form out of you know out of just random open strings and pull-offs and hammer-ons like this
That just seemed to work, so if you were to do it
indeed
[A]
[D]
See it sounds crazy
Slowed down but in a band context with the rest of the chords and things like that going on that would work
For Brad you know in his style, [G] so I hope you got a lot out of this
And we'll see you in the next steal this lick video
[Gb] [A] [C]
[E] [Em] [A]
[Am] [A] [C] [D]
[Em] [A]
[C] [Bb] [C] [D]
[A] [Am]
[Bb] [C] [E]
[A] [Am]
