I was [Dm] a P.S.C. [F] on a search patrol, [G] hunting Charlie [Bb] down.

My weapon jammed [F] and I got stuck [G] way out in all [Bb] alone.
And [Dm] I could hear the enemy [C] moving in close [Dm] outside. _
Just then [Am] I heard [C] a twig snap and [Gm] I grabbed my [Dm] empty gun.
And [F] I dug and stared [Am] while I counted down [Dm] my fate. _ _
[F] And then a big [C] marine, a [Gm] giant with a pair [Dm] of friendly [F] eyes,
appeared there at [Am] my shoulder and [Dm] said, wait. _ _
When he came in close [F] beside me, said, [G] don't worry, son, [Bb] I'm here.
[Dm] If Charlie wants to [C] tangle now, he'll have two [Dm] to dodge. _
I said, well, thanks a lot.
I told him [G] my name and asked [Bb] him his.
And [Dm] he said, the boys [C] just call [Dm] me Camouflage. _
_ _ _ _ _ [G] _ [Bb] Whoa, Camouflage, [Dm] things are never [C] quite the way [Dm] they seem. _

Camouflage, I was awfully glad [C] to see this big [Dm] marine. _ _
Well, we fought all night, [F] he's side by side.
[G] We took our battle [Bb]
stance.
[Dm] And I wondered how [C] the bullets missed [Dm] this man. _
Because they seemed to go [F] right through him, [G] just as if he [Bb] wasn't there.
[Dm] And the morning we both [C] took a chance [Dm] and ran. _ _

[Dm] When he lived me out of danger, I saw my camp and waved goodbye.

And when I got back to my HQ, I told them about my night.
And the [F] battle I'd spent [C] with a big [G] marine [Dm] named Camouflage.
[F] When I said his [Am] name, a soldier [Gm] gulped and a medic took [F] my arm.
And led me to [Am] a green tent [Dm] on the right. _
[F] He said, you may be telling [Am] true, [C] boy, [Bb] but this here is [Dm]
Camouflage.
