Hi, this is Munson with Munson Music and we're going to talk about a couple things that you
can do that might help you use guitar lesson videos online.
One is that there are a number of programs actually that you can download to your computer
and you can then download those videos to your computer to later burn for DVDs or to
review material just on your own time without having to worry about buffering which can
always be kind of a terrible thing.
One cool program that you might want to think about would be Free YouTube Downloader and
this one is a little weird.
Downloader.
So I'm at download.com.
I'm putting in a search for Free YouTube Downloader and it looks like there's Free YouTube Downloader
right there at the top but it might not be on your particular screen.
But you can go to Free YouTube Downloader and then Download Now so we can click that program.
Now this particular program, there are a number of programs, actually I think Real Player
has a plugin that does this too, but you can save this file to your computer and it comes
with lots of spam or things that you want to install on your computer that you probably
don't want to install on your computer.
But we can go to the Free YouTube Downloader install and we can run that program.
Yes, and I'm just going to really quickly run you through where the spam is.
So right now, today, you click Next on the Welcome screen and yes, I want to continue with installation.
I agree with the license agreement but then some strange stuff is probably going to come up here.
Yeah, okay, so my search dial, I hit Advanced and all of a sudden I have an option to not install that.
That's weird.
And then make your selection to continue but I want to decline this [E] particular offer and
then I [N] can install my status.
Then it runs through the real install.
So then I go Next, I go Accept Agreement, Next, then yeah, it can go in that folder,
it can go there with the shortcuts.
However, all right, Sendori, I don't know what that is.
So we're going to go Custom Install, Don't Install Sendori, and then we'll install.
So once you have Free YouTube Downloader or some other similar program on your computer,
you can take a guitar lesson like I shot a lesson for Dreaming of You by The Coral yesterday.
And I can take that HTTPS address at the very, very top where it's got www.youtube.com and
then backslash the address of the video and I can hit Control and C at the same time and
copy that and then take Free YouTube Downloader and then paste that into the URL I want to download.
Now this is a little weird.
You can download it, right, it's going to download it as AVI so I can hit Download to
just download that particular file.
And then I would have it on my computer and I could burn it to a DVD if I wanted to take
it with me somewhere or put it on a USB or you know, you could do anything you want to
with it just like a regular video file.
However, Windows Media Player does have a cool little plugin to slow down audio.
So if you wanted to, and this is just kind of another option, is instead of downloading,
you could download the video to have it or you could download the video and have it converted
to an MP3 which can be a very, very cool option too.
So right now I just downloaded the video itself in AVI format but now we're going to go back
to YouTube Downloader, Download More.
I've got the same address in there but I'm going to put MP3 Player Audio Only and download
just an audio version of this particular lesson too and we're going to see if this works the
way I want it to work.
So it's determining location of the video stream.
It's downloading the video in an MP3 format so now I have my lesson video of Dreaming
of You by The Coral and just an MP3 and randomly, free YouTube Downloader put some buttons on
my computer and I don't like little shortcut things so I'm going to stick those in a recycle
bin but then we could go over here to where it says once it's got it downloaded and it
puts it in a default.
If you go to My Computer and then go to Documents and then go to Downloads and then go to Free
YouTube Downloader, that's where I find those files on my computer.
So then I could go to Dreaming of You where it's got just the audio and I could open that
with Windows Media Player.
You can even do this with songs that you're working on too which can be very, very useful
to slow things down.
Alright, so now I've got the audio of my lesson video for Dreaming of You.
So I can take the mouse and right click on Windows Media Player as [E] it's playing that
and then go [A] to Enhancements [E] and then under Enhancements it [N] has Play Speed Settings.
So we can hit that and all of a sudden I've got a bar on [C] the audio for my lesson video
[Am] to slow that audio down [E] and it does that without [A] altering pitch.
[Em] [F] So [C] if you think I'm playing too fast for you, after you watch the video and you know what
to do, you could slow [Abm] it down and then you could practice along with me or you could
go find that audio on YouTube somewhere, download the real audio in MP3 format [Am] and then slow
it down for [C] you to practice with the real audio which could be very, very cool little
practice tool too.
So once you get really good, you can try it at full speed, right?
You wanted to [Abm] go crazy and shred metal, you can completely [B]
[Cm] just
Wow, you guys thought [F] I talked fast the way I am.
[Gm] [C] Whoa, [G] that's bizarre.
So anyway, I thought that was kind of a cool little thing to shoot a little tutorial about.
That way you can go and find the audio that you're working for the lesson and download
it and then you can adjust the speed to your particular level and kind of work it that way.
Or you could download other guitar teacher's lessons and put them on DVD for yourself rather
than spend money on some DVD you could get for free off of YouTube by using some programs.
So that's a little bit of information to help you with your guitar studies on
can do that might help you use guitar lesson videos online.
