I'd usually make a mistake because I don't want everybody to think I'm perfect.

[A] [D] [C]
[A] [D] 6 foot 6, he stood on the ground, [D] weighed 225 pounds.
I [Em] saw that giant other [A] man move, he was [D] too low.
[C] [Am] [Dm]
And we found out, [D] I don't know, within the last 6 months or so,
[F#m] that Glenn was [N] diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
And we had been suspecting that, you know, and fearing that that might be the case.
Because he slowly began to have some short-term memory problems.
No, that's just something I didn't want to say to anybody.
Laughter
We call it part-timers.
It's part-timers, yeah.
But it's just something that, hey, I guess it happens in life.
You know, we just take one day as it comes and make the most of every day
and enjoy life and just try to have fun, right?
Well, sure.
It didn't bother me any.
Laughter
It's not.
There's a lot of things I didn't want her to remember anyway.
You know, so just shuck it out and start over.
And you prepare for tomorrow, but you try not to worry about tomorrow.
Right.
Or else you can't enjoy today.
That's right.
[D#] And looking forward to getting out on the road again?
Yeah.
Where are we going?
England, Ireland, Scotland?
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
We have a lot of dates in the U.S. before we go out.
We're taking our kids with us.
Yeah, we're taking our kids.
In fact, their band Instant People is opening for Glenn over there.
It'll be a good experience for them and for us.
You had a lot of great years in [D] Los Angeles.
Before you became famous yourself, you worked with people.
What do you [C#] remember about Elvis and [G] recording with him?
[E] That was
What kind of a guy was he?
He was great.
He was just a very, very nice guy with a lot of talent.
Elvis Presley could flat sing.
He was a good singer.
Wow.
I wish I could have sang like that.
And you filled in for Brian Wilson when you toured with the Beach Boys.
[C#] Yeah, that was great.
What did you pick up from them?
What kind of learning experience?
[F#] How to sing real high!
It's a little old lady from Pasadena.
Oh, my God.
It was a really great experience [Fm] to play with the Beach Boys
because they were just really a good band.
Now, I know [C] you and Kim have been married for 20 years.
It seemed like yesterday.
She's still a kid.
Can you tell me a little bit about how you met
and maybe [N] a little bit about your kids?
My best friend was dating his banjo player,
and they were going to go see James Taylor.
I'm like, I love James Taylor.
Fix me up with somebody in the band.
So they fixed me up on a blind date with Glenn.
I thought she was blind.
We had three kids together, bam, bam, bam,
took them on the road with us.
And they'd sit on the side of the stage and watch your great band play.
And they just picked up to music just instinctively.
And they all sing, they all write.
They're really talented kids.
How would you like to be remembered?
Just for what I am.
I'm Glenn Campbell.
I believe in God, and I believe in other people
like the way you want to be treated
and to help others less fortunate.
Music is really [D#] incredible.
It's just something, it's a gift.
[E] And I try to do that.
Wow.
I'm thankful.
[D]
It's annoying that your clothes [Bm] are always open
and your path is free [Em] to walk.
That makes me tend to leave my sleeping bag
rolled [A] up and stashed [D] behind your couch.
And it's annoying I'm not shackled by forgotten words and bonds
and each day instead of dried up on [Em] some line.
That keeps you in the back [Bm] roads by the rivers of [A] my memory.
[Em] It keeps you ever [A] gentle on [D] my mind.
