Hi, my name is Jen minor.
Thank you for joining [N] me here at ukulelehybrids.com for ukulele lessons and ukulele chords and

All right, so I recently posted a video
introducing the D minor chord
If you haven't seen that video just to review it really quickly you're going to basically make an F chord so
That would be second fret top string and then
Your pointer finger is going to be the first fret third string down and then for the D minor chord just to transform it
To a [D] D minor chord from an F chord
You're going to [Am] take your ring [F] finger and put it [Fm] on the second fret
Second [Ab] string down right under your middle [Dm] finger there, and it should sound similar to this
[G] Also, I should mention this is a banjo [Ab] ukulele if you haven't seen one here [B] you go, they're pretty cool
[Bb] [Eb] The only chords you're going to need for this song is a [F] D minor
[Am] F, C
[Dm] D minor [F] and the song is Jolene.
It's originally by I believe Dolly Parton
[B] I tend to slow it down a bit, but if you want to [Gb] make it faster go [Dm] for it
[Eb] so
The first chord there's so there's two different parts.
There's the chorus and then [E] there's the verse
so the chorus I'm going to show you that now because it actually starts out with the [Dm] chorus in the song and
It's going to go [Gb] a little something like this.
So we have a D
[Dm]
[F] F
[C] C
[Dm] D minor so I think I said D before it's a D minor so D minor
[F] F
C D [Dm] minor
Jolene Jolene [C] Jolene
[C] That's a C [Dm] D minor all right, so the whole thing together
[F] [C] [Dm]
Jolene Jolene
I'm [C] backin' up you
Please don't take my [Dm] man
[F] Jolene Jolene [C] Jolene [Dm] Jolene
[F] Please don't take [C] him
Even [Dm] though you can
So once again, it's just D minor [F] F [C] C [Dm] D minor
[C] F C D minor
C [Dm] D minor
D [F] minor D minor D minor D minor D minor
D [Dm] minor
[Dm] D minor Okay
So that is
The [Eb] course it pretty much is the whole song and I'll show you why here.
So the verse is like this
[Ab] [F] D minor, F, [C] C, [Dm] D minor,
[C] C, E, [Dm] D minor.
And I'll sing a little bit of this.
You're actually playing the same thing.
[C] [Dm]
[C]
[Dm] Okay, so I'm just going to go ahead and sing [N] the opening chorus, verse, [C] and then the chorus really quickly.
Just [Fm] so you can, you know, hear it and learn it and [Dm] rock out.
Alright, here we go.
[F] [C]
[Dm] [C]
[Dm] Okay, so just a reminder, it's D minor, [F] [Am] F, C, [Dm] D minor, [C]
[Dm] D minor.
[F] Jolene, [C] Jolene, [Dm] Jolene, Jolene.
[C] I'm backing up you, please don't take [Dm] my man.
[F] Jolene, [Am] Jolene, Jolene, [Dm] Jolene.
[C] Please don't take him, even though [Dm] you can.
Your beauty [F] is beyond [Am] compare, with flaming [Dm] oxygen.
[C] Without your skin and eyes of [Dm] emerald green.
Your beauty [F] is like a breath of [Am] spring, your voice is [Dm] sublime, sublime.
[C] And I cannot compete with you, [Dm] Jolene.
I've talked some [F] action, let me [C] sleep, there's nothing I [Dm] can do to keep [C] from crying when he calls your [Dm] name, Jolene.
Jolene, [F] Jolene, [C] Jolene, [Dm] Jolene.
[C] I'm backing up you, please don't [Dm] take my man.
[F] Jolene, Jolene, [C] Jolene, [Dm] Jolene.
[C] Please don't take him, even though you [Dm] can.
[Gb] And there you have it.
So, [F]
good luck, [E] rock out, have fun, and [Bb] I'll see you next time.
[Eb] Thank you for joining me here at Ukulelehybrids.com.
