[F] [Cm]
[F] [C] [F] So we've had a [Cm] week of rehearsals in the Gore Walls which has gone [F] really really well and
now we're going to head to the [Ab] Barrowlands for the production rehearsal.
But [N] before that we've had some morning off so I've just been walking around Glasgow in
the lovely Clyde River and the best part is it's not raining.
So now I'll take you with me to go to the Barrowlands, so let's go.
[Cm] [F]
[Eb] [F]
[Cm] [F] So
[A]
[D] [E] [A]
[C] [Am]
[C] I'm here with Charlie Birchhill, [G] I'm sure you guys know.
[N] So what does it mean playing the Barrowlands?
We're here in this venue and what does it mean?
Well it's really special to Jim and I because our parents would [Gm] have came here when we were
younger dancing and [C] we opened it actually.
[N] It closed because it had a bad period where there was a bit of trouble in this area.
We closed it and then we did a video in here and then it kind of led to the venue being
opened as a venue.
And we were fine.
Amazing.
And it's so like home because we were calling down the alley.
The minute you walk into this venue you just feel this atmosphere, this vibe.
You just feel that there's a really good energy in here.
On the staircase there coming up, the first thing I would have noticed was that on [C] the
staircase [D] there were these quotes.
[Cm] I don't know where they're from, I've never seen them and they're really, [G] really good.
And they're brilliant in it.
[Cm] I just thought that's so typical of this place.
[F]
[C] [F]
[N] Gordie, have you played here before?
Yes, several times.
Some of the greatest shows I've ever played in my whole life have been in here.
It's my favourite venue.
It's my home time venue.
I've seen so many iconic acts here and to grace [Em] the same [F] stage as such people.
Amazing.
What was your most memorable gig [N] here?
My most memorable gig was my first ever show, the first ever time I played here.
Cherise and I, we got booed off.
Oh, sorry, I shouldn't laugh.
I'll never forget that show.
It's not because we were bad, it's just that we were the support act and nobody had heard of us.
Who was that with?
It was a band of my own and I was supporting [E] a band called Naughty by Nature.
[Eb]
It was a hip hop band [N] and we weren't a hip hop band.
So the crowd just
Booed you off?
I think people liked us, they just decided to boo us off.
But in the end, I've never felt more alive in all my life.
So it's my favourite.
[Ab] It's not my favourite Barrel Dance gig [Eb] but my most memorable [C] one.
The one I'll never forget.
[F] [C]
Have you ever played the Barrel Dance before?
[F] I have.
[C] With the lads we played them in 2012 for the 5 from [F] 5 tour.
It was a really [C] memorable tour where we went back to the first five songs.
[Fm] The first five [C] Superminds albums, 25 songs.
It was [F] incredible.
Have [C]
you ever played the [F] Barrel Dance before?
I've never even been here before.
[C] I don't know, everything happened into a gig [F] in Glasgow.
I've played King's Cup before but I've [Am] never been to Barrel Dance and never played Barrel Dance.
What's your [Dm] first impression of the venue when you walk in?
I love it.
I love [Am] the little stars, I love [G] the [A] feeling that you step into a little bit of a time warp.
That's quite good.
Yeah, I like that.
[Dm] It's got a kind of calm about it.
[Am] You might not feel the history of it when you walk in.
[G] [D] [A]
[Dm] [C]
[G] [D] [Am]
[Dm] [C]
[G] [D] [A]
[Dm] [C]
[G] So [D] [Am]
today is the first show of the tour [Dm] and I'm here at the Barrel Dance a little bit earlier than everybody else.
[Am] I'm going to be checking my set up [G] before we do soundcheck.
[D] Lots of people in the ghosting room because it's Glasgow.
[A] Kim and Charlie but loads of friends here.
I'm here with Billy [Dm] Sloan who is going to be on stage with us tonight.
[Am]
[Em] So Billy, how do [D] you feel?
Our first gig of the tour.
[F] You always feel nervous, even if you're not involved in the show.
[C] Because this is such hallowed ground.
[A] It's an iconic venue, isn't it?
Not only is it the best venue in Glasgow, it's the best [D] venue in Europe without a shadow [F] of a doubt.
It's like New York, New York, that song.
[C] If you can make it there, [G] you can make it anywhere.
If you can make it [Am] here at the Barrel Run, you've made it to something.
[C] [Am]
I'm [Dm] [C]
[G] [D] [A] here with Andy, Andy Wright, who's the producer.
[Dm] And Miss Charlie.
So how was the process [C] of making this album?
What were the [Em] team words?
It was brilliant.
We [D] actually, well it's our third album together.
And [B] I think we get better at [A] every time.
[Em] I think so, [Am] I think so.
[Cm] We couldn't be working [A] with better and wonderful artists and friends.
[F] Thank you so much.
