Hey, what's up guys?
This is Charles Caswell, and I'm here to show you a riff from my newest [B] song, Shitlit.
We're going to break it [F] into four sections.
Standard tuning, starting with the low one.
It's [Em] B, [D] E, A, D, G, B, [Em] E.
The first section, it's an upstroke [D] and a downstroke.
Starts on [Db] the fifth fret on the D string.
So it's five, and then seven on [F] the A,
[D] eight on the E, and then six on the low B.
But we're going to want to move our first finger up so it lands on that sixth fret.
So [G] this is what it sounds like slow.
[Eb] [G] [Gbm]
[B] [A]
That's going [N] to get you ready for that new position when you're going [Gm] and using downstrokes
[B]
[N] for the second part.
[Am] So tenth fret on the [D] B string,
eighth fret on the E string, and then seventh fret on the A,
ninth [B] fret on the D.
[Em] Practice both of them separately,
[A] and then put them together.
[B]
So we're going to move on to section two, [A] starting on the tenth fret of [D] the D string.
So it's 10, and then 12 on the A,
[A]
[Abm] ninth fret on the G, tenth fret [C] on the D,
[D] eighth fret on the B, ninth fret on the D,
twelfth fret [Db] on the high E, thirteenth fret on the B.
[B]
[C]
We're going to move on [D] to three now.
Third section [A] starts with the fifteenth [E] fret on the high E,
hammer on to the seventeenth, tap on the
nineteenth, and [Am] then you're going to pull off back to the seventeenth and slide up to the twentieth.
So that sounds like this.
[D]
And then after that, we're going to pick the twentieth fret on the B string, slide down to the seventeenth fret.
So it's 20 to [A] 17.
[Am] Fourth section, [D] nineteenth fret on the high E, hammer on to the twentieth,
hammer on to the twenty-second, and tap on the twenty-fourth.
[Em] And then we're going to pull [D] off from the twenty-fourth to the twenty-second,
pull off down to the twentieth, and then pull off down to the nineteenth.
[B] From [D] there, we're going to tap the twenty [Fm]-second fret,
pull off to the twentieth, pull off to the nineteenth, [Abm] pull off to the seventeenth.
We're going to tap on the [F] twentieth fret, pull off to the nineteenth, pull off to the seventeenth, pull off [A] to the fifteenth.
[F] This is [Abm] the last part.
We tap the nineteenth fret, pull off to the seventeenth, pull off to the fifteenth, pull off to the thirteenth, [F] and then slide down to the twelfth fret.
So that all together is [Db] pretty easy.
[D]
It's kind of tricky.
[F] Work on each part by [Fm] itself, and then slowly put them [A] together.
[B]
[Ab]
I hope [D] this was informative.
