Hey everybody and welcome to Vanderbilt.com.
I'm going to show you an acoustic version of the chords of Shine On You Crazy Diamond
that I saw Gilmore do.
I'm not going to do it exactly like Gilmore's tune, not enough time to do the video on it
because it will be the bare bones chords and rhythms to it.
And I'll show you the lead boxes.
It's done in G minor.
[Gm]
[E] And the leads [Gm] are in the [G] G minor pentatonic.
[G] [Bb] [Ab]
[D] [Bb]
[G] And in his acoustic version, it's an acoustic electric he's playing
and he's running through his effects even with that.
So what he does in the intro is just he plays a G [Gm] minor.
He hits his effects which it loops over.
So it's holding that G minor so he can start his lead [Bm] up at the 15th fret on the E string.
[D]
[E] [F] [Bm]
[Gb] [B]
[F] [C]
[Bm]
[Dm] [E] [B]
[Gb] [G] And so on.
And then he goes back to the [Gm] G minor and he opens up it with the D string, 5th fret,
playing the D, open G, and 6th fret of the B string.

Then when he goes to the verse,

you [Am]
[Gb] go a half step down from the G minor to an F sharp major,
to the 7th fret major,
[Bb]
[Eb] [Dm]

[Bb] [F] [G]
[F] pull on the G note of the low E string to the F.
[Gb] [Gm]
