Scorpions.
It's the story of a band [Gb] founded in 1965 in northern [Em] Germany.
A group that brought out their first record in 1972, [G] but wouldn't find their true [Ab] sound until a [Dbm] few years later.
Until the end of the 70s to be precise, when their success soared and they [E] became one of the world's most famous hard rock bands.
It's also the story of a group with a controversial image, and whose rock ballads were [Gbm] broadcasted across the world [Bb] for the first [Eb] time ever.
It's a story that only Scorpions founders Rudolf Schenker and [B] Klaus Mayn can tell with precision.
[Gb] So if you're sitting comfortably, then now begin.
[Ab] Once upon a time, there [Em] was a band called Scorpions.
[B] They came all the way from [Gb] Hannover, West Germany, and they loved [Ab] to rock the world.
[Eb] Scorpions are building bridges with music.
[G] Music don't know borders.
Between different religions, between continents, [G] between different philosophies, between [Eb] different
[B] [Gb] ages.
I think [Ab] Scorpions music is [B] timeless, it's endless, it's the only thing.
We can't, [Ab] maybe we can live for a long time [E] without food.
Okay, water is important, but music [Db] is also.
Did [Bb] you [Ab] promise yourself [Bb] anything at the start of your careers [Db] and stick to it?
[Bb] No, you know, you try [Eb] to be [Bbm] open-minded.
And [Db] if you have the chance to play with one of the best [Ab] classical orchestras in [Bb] the world, like the Berlin Philharmonic, or you do an MTV unplugged.
But [G] then you have to [Fm] take on that challenge, you know, and have to go all along the way and [Ab] make it the best you [Bb] can.
And the best [Db] you can means [Bb] you become part of the family [Db] from Eric Clapton to Nirvana to Neil Young.
[Bb] I don't know, all of them, you know, all the [Ab] greatest artists on this planet, who over the years [Gb] in this long period of time, [Bb] made an MTV [Gb] unplugged.
So you [Ab] become, by [Bb] doing this, you become [Gb] part of this [Db] illustrious [Bb] family of music.
[C] Oh yes, [Dm] MTV.
There we were [G] chatting away and we [C] almost forgot that [Dm] Scorpions came to promote their new [D] acoustic album [C] MTV Unplugged.
Live in [F] Athens, recorded [Gm] in front of 3 [C],500 [Dm] people in September [D] 2013.
It's a [C] throwback to the 70s with [D] guest appearances.
[F] So why [Gm] this record [C] and why today?
[Dm] It's about music, it's not [D] about the big rock posts.
You [Dm] know, we have plenty of time in every rock show, you [D] know, still go [C] crazy [Dm] and we still enjoy it, [Gm] you know.
But this is a whole different [C] format and we really enjoyed ourselves.
It's different.
You got to [Dm] be open.
And for us, playing [Gm] those three formats, doing a regular rock show, playing an MTV [G] unplugged or doing [Dm] shows with symphonic orchestras.
We just did a few [F] in Russia and Ukraine
[Dm] and [F] [Bb] I tell you, it [C] keeps you fresh [D] up here.
[F] [Gm] [Dm]
[F] The good thing [G] is, the theater [C] we played, [D] the highest mountain of [Gm] Athens, [Dm] it's actually the theater [F] was built [G] into a rock [C] in 1965, exactly the time when the [Dm] Scorpions were born.
So in this case, and we [Gm] did [C] on the first [Dm] place [F] of democracy [Gm] playing [D] and with eight [G] or nine different nations on [A] stage because [Dm] our guests were [D] between Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Greece, German and NLN.
[Gm]
[Eb] While they were there [F] on the stage, did they regret the fact that they'd [Bb] already announced their [Gm] retirement?
[Eb] It's impossible to stop when you [F] drive 250 kilometers an hour on the autobahn, [F] you know, and then [G] you go down to zero.
It's [Eb] impossible.
We figured that out.
[Bb] It's really amazing [G] that we reach so many [D] young fans with our music.
[Eb] We have more than 4 million followers on [D] Facebook and the average age is between [Gm] 17 and 27.
[Eb] And that's amazing.
And [Gm] we can see it every night on [G] stage together with those loyal Scorpions fans that follow the band for [D] all those decades and so many years.
You see a whole new audience of rock fans, of Scorpions fans in front of the stage [E] going nuts, [E] singing songs that were written before they [Gbm] were even born, you know.
[Gb] [Eb] [E] When you're a hard rock group, [Gbm] playing acoustic lives can [B] be a challenge.
But as [Db] far as challenges go, [E] Metallica played in Antarctica.
[Gbm] We're not trying to incite rivalry, but what do they think of Metallica's beat?
I got asked already for [Gb] that because they [E] asked me, what are you [A] saying for that?
I said, [Gb] OK, look, we already played [Gbm] in the highest stadium in the world, in La Paz, [Bm] 3,800 meters up.
So [E] we forgot only [Gbm] to take the people from the book called the [Db] [E] Guinness Book of Records with us.
That was a mistake.
Anyway, we did the highest concert.
We played in Manaus in the jungle, [B] one of the first bands we played [E] in Russia.
We did the first tour from Moscow to Vladivostok seven times.
[Em] We played in a snowstorm [Bm] in Siberia.
[Gb] Exactly, in Manaus 10.
So we go and say, great, [Gb] Metallica is a great band.
You were supporting us in a few concerts in the 80s.
Great band, we like them.
And we say, great, good, good, good.
We [Dm] heard
[Bb] that Scorpions have [D] several future projects lined [Bb] up, like a new album [A]
composed of hitherto [Dm] unrecorded tracks.
We started in [C] 2011.
[G] We said it would be cool to [Bb] go back to the 80s.
[A] We [D] found lots of material [C] that we never released.
[G] The lyrics, [Bb]
most of them were just working lyrics.
All [C] those songs needed a lot of [Bb] work.
We were just [D]
in [Dm] the middle of it.
Then [C] we went back on tour.
[F] MTV Unplugged came up [D] and that had [C] priority for this year.
[G]
We might [Bb] pick it up next year.
It will take some time, but [C] there is no plan right now.
[G] Right now we enjoy [Bb] the release of MTV Unplugged.
We will play some very few shows in [G] Germany at the end of April, [C] early May.
[Bb] We might come back to France for a very [Dm] few shows here as well.
So, this story, does it end with the best is yet to come?
Yes, always, always.
If you are positive [C] and you think this way, [G] the best [Bb] will always come around the next corner.

I said, [Gb] OK, look, we already played [Gbm] in the highest stadium in the world, in La Paz, [Bm] 3,800 meters up.
So [E] we forgot only [Gbm] to take the people from the book called the _ [Db] _ [E] Guinness Book of Records with us.
That was a mistake.
Anyway, we did the highest concert.
We played in Manaus in the jungle, [B] _ one of the first bands we played [E] in Russia.
We [Dm] _ _ heard _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Bb] that Scorpions have [D] several future projects lined [Bb] up, like a new album [A]
composed of hitherto [Dm] unrecorded tracks.
We started in [C] 2011.
[G] We said it would be cool to [Bb] go back to the 80s.
[A] We [D] found lots of material [C] that we never released.
[G] _ The lyrics, [Bb] _
most of them were just working lyrics.
All _ [C] those songs needed a lot of [Bb] work.
_ We were just [D] _
in [Dm] the middle of it.
_ Then [C] we went back on tour.
_ [F] MTV Unplugged came up [D] and that had [C] priority for this year.
[G] _
We might [Bb] pick it up next year.
It will take some time, but [C] there is no plan right now.
[G] Right now we enjoy [Bb] the release of MTV Unplugged. _
We will play some very few shows in _ [G] Germany at the end of April, _ [C] early May.
[Bb] We might come back to France for a very [Dm] few shows here as well.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
So, this story, does it end with the best is yet to come?
Yes, always, always.
If you are positive [C] and you think this way, [G] the best [Bb] will always come around the next corner. _ _ _ _
