[Ab] came out on March 9th of 2010.
One month later, on April 12th,
my wife and I found out that our son, Bowen,
was going to be born with a severe [Eb] congenital heart defect
called [Bb] hypoplastic [Eb] left heart.

I don't have every [Ab] answer in life,
but I'm trusting you [Eb] one day at a time
[Ab] because you can make a weak heart stay alive [Eb] forever.
_ Over the past 8 months,
[A] Bowen has endured 2 open heart surgeries
and been in the hospital for almost 4 months at that time.
I'll never forget the night of his first open heart surgery.
We got a call in the middle of the night that Bowen's heart had stopped beating.
We went to his room as fast as we could,
and when we got there, we just weren't prepared
to see some of [Eb] the things that we saw that night.
The redemption that _ was for me
in probably the most broken moment, I would say, in my life _
was that all the treasure of this world,
everything that I put my hope in here, _ in this life,
was burned away in that moment.
And I could clearly see that the only treasure that I had,
the only real treasure, was the treasure that I have,
the hope that I have in [Ab] Jesus Christ.
Bowen's doing great now.
He's making an incredible recovery.
And the fact that we still have him,
and we just thank God for that every single [Ab] day,
and are eager [Eb] to see what God continues to do through his life.

My wife and I had our first baby.

Her name's Bennett.

and I held her for the [Eb] first time.
It really does [Ab] change your life.
And all of a sudden I feel this great sense of purpose
that I never felt before.
And I feel like God was [Fm] redeeming me _ spiritually _
[Eb] to be just this great leader [Ab] for my family.

[Fm] I've given up on too many [Fm] things
But I'm [Eb] not giving up on you
The [Ab] Redeemer's _ been kind of an important song for me.
[Bb] About 3 years ago, _ while I was in the band,
I went through divorce, and that was kind of a,
that was a really strange and difficult time for me.
And it kind of went through this season of just, God, why?
What's going on here?
Throughout the next couple years, it kind of,
he began to bring answers and teaching me things
and just revealing to me his character, _ his nature [Am] as God.
Through [Bb] it all, through this getting married and getting divorced
and just the [Bb] difficulty there.
_ The two things I could kind of take away,
the one is [Eb] that divorce is just [Ab] the death of something
that was never meant to die.
God gave us marriage as a gift,
and it was meant to be [Eb] _ a covenant [Fm] for life.
And [Ab] the first and the most impactful way I learned
[Eb] how God really is the Redeemer.
