[Bb] [Gb] That was the whole thing that Leonard Peltier went down for.
It's [Ab] just a classic case of injustice, and we all know that in [Eb] Indian country this is [Gm] a strong possibility.
And Leonard, unfortunately, has [G] been a scapegoat in the whole Wounded Knee situation.
Sacrifice your [C] freedom, [Gm] sacrifice your prayer.
Take away your [C] language, [Gm] cut off all [C] your hair.
Hi, Leonard.
I was [Eb] in the middle of making this record, and one day he called me on the phone and he was talking to me,
and I thought, everybody else [F] has described Leonard Peltier's situation,
but nobody's [Gm] ever heard him speak on his own behalf to tell the story himself.
My name is Leonard Peltier,
[Eb]
[Am] [Gm] and I'm living in the United States Penitentiary,
which is the swiftest growing Indian [Am] reservation in the [Gm] country.
I've been in prison since 1976 for an [C] incident [E] that took place on the [Bb] Oglala Lakota Nation.
[Gm]
[Cm] [Gm]
There was a shootout between members of the American Indian Movement and the FBI,
and the local sheriffs, state troopers.
Two agents were killed and one Indian was murdered.
[C] Three [A] of us were charged with the deaths [Gm] of the FBI agents.
The co [F]-defendants were found not [Gm] guilty by reason of self-defense.
My case was separated.
I was found guilty before a jury of non-Indian people.
The prosecutor stated that they did not know [G] who killed their [Gm] agents,
nor did he know what participation Leonard Peltier may have played in it.
But someone has to [G] pay for the crime.
When we did that, we put the voice with this music and everything.
It was just like, oh my God, this is something that, to feel [Gm] Leonard Peltier's situation,
not the information, but to feel it, I can't think of a stronger way to do it.
You

Stranded in the [A] wayside, [Gm] set my [F] spirit [Gm] free.

I don't give up.
Not until my people are free will I give up.
