I'm not gonna tell you how it's gonna be, [A]
[E] if you're gonna give your love to me.
Hey everybody, how are you doing?
This [Bm] is Damian and we're gonna go over today [Bb] a brief
little rockabilly lesson on Buddy Holly, his song Not Fade Away.
[B] We're just gonna kinda
go over the chord pattern and go over the solo.
It's very easy.
[C] If you're intermediate
or advanced or just learning and you've got some basic chord skills down, you'll be able
to learn this song in no time and have some fun, show your friends, show off.
It's [Bb] gonna
be great.
Let's check [A] it out.
Alright, it's gonna be real easy.
The basic verse of the
song is just [B] the E chord, [A] the A chord [D] and the G [A] chord.
Kinda just, you play [E] your E,
your [A] A.
So [E] it's,
[B] and I like to do the [A] A chord like that.
It's a little easier than getting
into it like that.
[E]
Remember that little fancy part in there?
[E]
What that is,
[Bb] that's what Scotty
Moore does I believe in the beginning of Shake, Rattle [E] and Roll, right?
Anyway, [Bb] what you're
gonna be doing there is you're just gonna be playing your G, B and E [E] string and on your
fourth fret on your [Bb] G string, fourth fret on your G, [Em] fifth fret on your B string [Abm] and
E string, [Bb] fourth fret.
So fourth fret on your G, [E] fifth fret on your [Eb] B [Ab] and fourth fret on
your E [E] string.
Mess with that.
Basically how you're gonna [Bb] be doing it is [E] just the E and
A, back to the E.
[A] [E]
It might take you a few minutes [E] or a couple of days to get the rhythm
right.
Basically, the hardest part of the song [Bb] is to get [E] the rhythm down.
[A] A, B, [Bm] A, back
to E.
[N] Alright, once you got that down, let's move over to the solo.
Just wanted to get
a [E] close up of that [Bb] part.
[A]
[E] Nice and slow.
[E]
Again, fourth fret G string, fifth fret B string,
fourth fret E string.
I E string.
[A]
[E]
[A]
[E]
[A]
Alright, so that's the solo.
Now, you're gonna want
to play that part.
[E]
[G] Okay, I'd like to explain that [A] solo part the easiest way I can.
So,
let's just do it [E] piece by piece.
[D] [Am] Okay, what we did there, we were just doing the E to
the A chord, back to the E.
Then, [Bb] what we'll do, [Db] [Am] slide up.
We're gonna slide up on your
G, B and E strings.
We're gonna slide up to the ninth fret on your G.
On your B string,
you're gonna play your tenth fret and on your high E string, you're gonna play [A] your ninth
fret.
Slide up and [A] then for the next [D] part, which is just on your G string, you're gonna
play [Gb] your eleventh fret [A] and on your B and E string, you're gonna [D] play your tenth fret.
Almost make a little [A] song.
[D] [A]
So, when you're in this position, you [Bb] wanna like slide a little
[A] bit.
[E]
[A] [E] [A] [E]
[A]
[Bb] Once you get that down, let's do that [E] real slow and [A] [E]
[D] you go straight to your A chord.
So, watch me how [E] to.
So, you go straight to your A, A, G, A.
Then, you go [E] to this.
Back
to the E.
Before we get ahead of ourselves, when we go [A] to the A, A, A.
[E] Then, you're gonna
be going to your fourth fret on your G string, fifth fret on your B string and fourth fret
on your high E string.
[A] Just doing the same thing you were doing up [E] higher.
[A] So, when you,
[E] [A] [Dbm] this part.
[A] [E] So, you'll play.
Then, [Db] you'll move to your fifth, sixth fret.
Then, you'll move
to your sixth fret on your G string and [E] the fifth fret [A] on your B and the fifth fret on
your high E string.
[E] Back to your E.
[A]
[E]
[A]
[E]
[B] We'll do a [E] little close up.
Slower.
[A]
[A] [E]
[E]
[B] Well, I hope everybody enjoyed this lesson.
