[Gb] [Am] [Bm] [D]
[Dm] [Bm] [C] [D]
Well, the Strat, I think it's been around about four, maybe five years now.
Got together with Todd at the Cuffs and [Gb] Shop vendors and we sort of went through [D] what are
all the things you like, what would you like.
The neck is a flat neck with large frets.
As you can see, it's [E] a [Bm] 70s headstock.
I decided on a larger headstock because I figured more wood, more resonance and it's
got the locking [D] tuners.
[B] I decided to have the sort of a [Bm] vintage [Gb] reissue bridge because [D] I'm convinced that the [Bm] sound
is the right sound [Gm] for a Strat.
[Bm] I've got a five way switch.
On the neck pickup it's a 50s reissue.
The middle is a 60s reissue and this is what they call the sort of [B] Texas special [A] kind of,
I think it's a high gain than the vintage ones.
[Bm]
[B] [Dm] The [A] 50s reissue is [D] a very [E] pop [Am]-endy sounding pickup.
It's very open, [D] sweet sounding.
That's a little bit harder sounding, [A] little bit middlier [Dm] [Dm] and that's just got a bit more
gain but I hardly ever use [D] the bridge pickup anyway.
I tend to be [B] either [E] that on its own, [A] between or that on its own.
[Dm] It's between those two [B] pickups basically.
[A]
[Dm] [Bm]
[A] First one there is the full tone Deja Vibe [Bm] [A] called the Deja 2.
[D]
[A] I [B] don't think you can get that anymore but [D] [Dm]
that's Mike Fuller's [B] version of the Deja
Univibe which I used to use in the [A] 70s.
[Gm] But it's a beautiful sounding [Dm] thing.
The next one is a pedal that I asked Mike to [Bm] make for me specifically.
You can't buy them.
It's a wah in there but you can have it on a preset anywhere on its sweep.
You just [Am] kick it in and [D] [Gm] you're in one spot on the wah.
If you want to go up another gear basically you put that [Bb] one on.
Then there's the wah which I think he [Gb] calls the standard, [Gm] the full tone standard wah which
I [Ab] really love.
Then I've got an old 4 drive which was [Gbm] the first [Cm] pedal that Mike ever gave to me.
[F] It's got to be 15, 16, or maybe [C] a lot older than that even.
It's got something in it that [Cm]
no other overdrive pedal has had.
Then I've got the Robin Trower [F] Overdrive which is basically what I [Fm] have that on all the time.
That is the one thing that is the sort of building block of the sound.
But what [Eb] Mike wanted to do [F] was to combine sort of [Bbm] a modern, [Fm]
more of a modern sound distortion
wise and everything with the warmth of that old 4 [D] drive.
I've [F]
[Dm] been using these for a couple of [Am] weeks now.
I was [Dm] using an 800 [Eb] and [D] a JMP which was a [G] real, real old amp, beautiful [D] sounding amp.
But it's just [G] the reliability of using [Ab] old heads [Bb] is a [D] problem so I decided I've got to
find a new amp.
[G] [Dm] Someone recommended it to me, well Marshalls recommended it to me in fact.
So I decided to try it.
[D] But it's got a great sound.
[G] [Dm] I've got an album called [C] What Lies Beneath [D] coming out in a few days.
I was produced by a friend of mine called Livingston Brown [Gm] and we recorded it at his
[Dm] studio and he played bass on it, he engineered it.
Basically it's more his album than mine.
[D] But [E] I wrote all the songs and [C] I played all the [G] guitar on it.
[Dm] [D]
