To say how come there's so many great musicians and particularly songwriters come out of the
state of Texas, because I've been [A#] around it so long, I don't really know why it seems
normal to me.
I live in a place where songwriting is pretty normal, even in a very small way, even almost
in a neighborhood way.
Some guy would be writing some song or something you know, and it's interesting.
If I'd like to say, if I'd get historical about it, I would say it all has to do with
the sort of pioneer spirit that ran across Texas.
In a state like Colorado, you have to really work to get to your next neighbor, but in
a state like Texas, it's so flat out there like in West Texas, you can almost see your
next neighbor even if he's ten miles away.
So you think, well I'll get together with them, well what are you going to do?
Play chess?
Well hell no, you're going to play the fiddle.
