[Ab] I heard from a fan standing in line [G] for the show tonight that your guitar God, [E]
what was
the first song?
He meant dog, he's dyslexic.
It might have been that, or either one of the two, but let's just go with the God thing
if there's any fact there.
What [Db] was the first song you ever learned on the [D] guitar that maybe propelled you on your way?
It's probably the Bonanza theme.
Bonanza. [Gb] Bonanza.
Because it's mostly, you can put it on [E] open strings.
[G] I like that.
You know, mine was Wild Thing.
I was pretty mean [E] on the, well, [C] Sears [G] Silvertone.
We [F] didn't have Wild Thing [G] in my day.
We had to rely on less [D] conventional things really to play.
[G] Less hip.
You're kind of an up with people, a real, [C] an optimist in your lyrics.
Where do you find most of your inspiration, do you think, in your writing?
[G] I have some people that live by your [C] lyrics, so where do you get [F] your inspiration?
All over the place.
[C] If you just stay alive, then you see stuff [F] around you and things happen to you.
[Gb] Everybody has a [F] hard time, everybody has a good time.
[C] And if you haven't [Bb] got enough [G] stimulation, you can go [C] and read a newspaper.
Can you write if you're having [Bb] good times?
I can only [C] write when I'm fairly comfortable, actually.
[G] I can only write really sad, depressing songs when I'm feeling fairly good about [E] myself.
And how are you feeling right now?
[G] Honestly, off the record.
[C] Not too bad, a little tired.
A little tired, okay.
[C] On that note, then, I'll show some compassion.
There you have it, Mr.
Richard [F] Thompson.
Check out the new CD on Capitol [E] Records.
I highly recommend it.

[B] If that [E] was our goodbye kiss, seems I have too good to miss.
[Dbm] Once more for the [E] memory.
Head [Gbm] the heights [E] too well that time.
To leave it there would be [B] a crime.
[Gbm] [Dbm] Feels more like beginning [Gbm] to.

[Ab] At least [Eb] we [Ab] tried.
Took the [Eb] biggest [Ab] bite.
At least we [Eb] did it [Abm] right.
With all our [C] souls and all our might.
[Db] We'll murder [F] on the dance floor.
[Db] French kisses [C] in the rain.
[Db] Blood wetting [C] in the water.

But some kind of a mind of its [Dbm] own.
I can't break out [Gbm] and I can't break [E] in.
