Often listen to a lot of contemporary Christian music and I'm not always sure I get why
because I play it and I know there's not a lot to most of it and

Christian entertainment because I think it's good
but if you want spiritual nourishment, I suggest you go to church or read your Bible or something and let this entertain you [C] but
Look beyond this
For what you really need in life.

I know a lot of people a [C] lot of people don't like the way I like the Bible
[G] I just like it the way I do I can't help it
The thing I most like about the Bible are all the [C] weirdos in it. _
I think the Bible is just

who is a

_ bizarre from [A] our whole point of view
That someone could be [E] so totally other and so completely by himself

become like us in order to
help us become like him and
If you want a religion that makes sense I I suggest something other than Christianity

Well, this is a
yet another prayer song and _
_ _ sometimes I find it hard to pray and

sometimes, you know, you try to pray you try to impress God with all the right words and I

Just don't think it's an easy thing to impress God Almighty

_ And here's the thing that [C] I think we often forget is that [D] we don't have to impress him
_ He's already knocked out about [Am] you

remember reading the thing that Picasso once [C] said I I like to read what famous artists have to say because I can barely
_ [G] I'm barely able to look at their paintings without

_ _ _ But he said this one thing that I really [G] did like he said that good taste was the enemy of great art
[C] Which I think is very very true _ _
good taste has all to do with being cultured and being refined [G] and
If art has to do with anything it has to be do with being human
[D] And one of the reasons I love the Bible is because the the humans in the Bible are not very refined
_ [C] They're uh, pretty goofy if you want to know the whole truth about it

[G] I remember when I was a kid and people would always say, you [C] know, cuz I was one of those typical depressed
adolescent types I
wrote poetry and stuff [G] is how morose I was as a kid and
People go around saying Oh cheer up man, because God loves you and I'd always say big deal
_ God loves everybody
_ That don't make me special
[C] _ _ That just proves that God ain't got no taste

And I don't think he does

If he was as civilized as most Christian people wish he [C] was
He would be useless to Christianity
