Our target member Kevin uploaded a video of him playing operator great great picking on it
So operator of course by Jim Croce, but Kevin I got a couple suggestions for you
You're doing a really good job on the picking with that kind of rolling
[Bm] Rhythm where the bass [D] notes are coming every third eighth note
[B] Sounding really good good movement from your G to B [Bm] minor chords [F] and that little run right the beginning
I just have two quick suggestions.
I think [C#] the little run right in the beginning after [G] it goes from G
[Bm] B minor and set a minor [C] 7 and then this [Em] descending run that's done in thirds or tenths
[Am]
You need one more note [C#] in there
You need you've got the [C] first three a C and an E [Bm] B and a D an [Am] A and a C
And then what you need is [A] a G and a [G] B
Before you go to the [F#m] D the F sharp in the bass and the A
[Bm] [Am]
[F#m] [G] So you need five [Gm] notes in there, so I haven't I don't think I've done a lesson on this yet
I'll get to it someday, but that's so that's that's the hint in there try to make it sound like this
[Bm]
[Am] [G] [F#] [C] And then you land [G] back on the D chord then on the second run oh
[Bm]
[C] [Em] Then when you're [F] singing use that same chord progression [G] going from G to [Bm] B minor to a minor 7 and
[C] Then the descending [Bm] run
[G] With just [F] four pinches in there ending [C] on the G
[C#] Watch out right here.
You're doing a fancy little thing in there.
That's taking one beat too long
So you got it got to scope that a little bit more carefully because you end up being a beat late
You do something like I don't know if I can figure this out if I can
fake this
[G] [C#]
So before the a [D#] minor chord you get you get hung up in in something a little too fancy
So watch out for those kinds of embellishments if they if they mess up the timing a little bit
[N] They're dangerous so I think that's it as far as oh no one more thing.
Oh, man glad I remembered this
There are a lot of e minors in this song make sure that on those e minors get [Em] the sixth string in the bass
This is a really common mistake my a lot of my students make when you go to e minor
You look down here
And you see that you've [Bm] got your second finger on the fifth [F#] string and so you're kind [D#] of thinking kind of like on a C chord
Or a G chord you're gonna hit the lowest string [Em] that has a finger on it
Gotta remember on that on e minor get [A#] the sixth string in the bass
I have students who've been with me for [G#m] years 30 years [F] sometimes that still mess this up
Not to mention any names, and you're not watching all right, okay, but
[Em]
Gotta have a sixth string in the bass on the e minor chords and that will make make operator come out just a little bit
a little
