[G] [C] Hi, I'm Ray Thistlethwaite.
I've just sat down at the RD [G]-800 [Fm] and [Ab] my first [Am] impressions are that it is [Em] very [C] awesome.
My playing background, I started off playing [Am] actual piano and [G] always [D] seem to come back to the piano.
[Dm] It's a backbone of my songwriting.
So, [G] [C] it's finding something that gives you that feeling of [Eb] being a real acoustic instrument.
It's kind [F] of a combination of the [C] way that the [F] samples are mapped to the way that the [G] keyboard and the electronic or [C] the, [Fm] you know, [F]
the actions actually [G] married up to that.
Decades ago, it was [A] just, you [G] just take what you can [Gm] get.
But it's actually getting kind [G] of to an almost indistinguishable [Eb] point really now.
[Gm] It's got a great feel.
[G]
[Eb] [Ab]
[G] [Cm] [Gm]
[Eb] There's a different criteria that comes into the touring [Gm] thing.
You actually have to think [C] logistically a lot.
You got [F] to get something that's small enough to be able to take [G] around.
If it's [C] road worthy, [Eb] you know, has [C] a strong [Gm] enough chassis at the bottom, can get in and out of flight cases.
[Cm]
Unfortunately, [Fm] we're at the mercy of the [G] airlines in terms of the weight [C] and [Gb] how it's going to kind of [E] translate [C] with the [G] outputs.
What are the [F] outputs on this?
It's got XLR out.
So, yeah, there's great flexibility here.
You can go straight into a [Db] PA.
So, it's things like that [Ab] that need to be thought of with the heavy [Bbm] touring kind [Ab] of scene.
[Eb] Let me check out a keyboard.
[Am]
[G] [C]
[D] [A] [E]
[Am] [Gbm] [Bm]
[A] [E] I think also [Am] flexibility on the fly [Gbm] is really important as well.
[B] This is really [A] great because it's got [Db] a pretty comprehensive [C] EQ.
[Bm] A lot of the time, it's [D] not even the manufacturer's or the keyboard or [E] the action's fault.
But [Gb] you're going through [Fm] a PA and you're getting monitors which aren't tuned the right [Eb] way.
[Fm] You know, if you're sort of not getting the EQ back that you need, it's going to eat into the way that you perform on any keyboard.
So, I think having it on board, you've got a four-band EQ here where you [Cm] can be winding some top end, winding down some [Am] bottom end.
Or if you actually want to get some warmth going [Bbm] on.
[Dbm] [A]
[D] [G] So, having those things really quickly at your disposal is really, really good.
I mean, the reverb patch here is absolutely [Am] gorgeous.
[Cm] [Gm]
[Am] [Bm] [Dbm]
[Gbm] [Bm] [Ab] Sure, that's all configurable [Eb] anyway if that's too [Cm] much decay time and all of that there.
So, yeah, [B] [Bbm] [Db] it's looking for all those things really.
That's what I look for.
I hope [Gm] that answers the question.
[Ab] It's really like I always talk too much.
[F] [Bbm]
[Fm] [G] [C] [Fm] [Ab]
[G] [Ab] [Cm] [Ab]
