Radiohead - You Think You Know Rock? chords
Start Jamming...
Did you know the original incarnation of Radiohead, you know, York, O'Brien, Selway, and the
Brothers Greenwood, first called their band Onna Friday because that's when they usually
met for practice at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire?
[Cm]
So [Eb] you think you know [G] Radiohead.
And [Am] what was Onna Friday's first [Cm] gig?
They played [Eb] Jericho Tavern in [Gm] Oxford, along with the [A] complete brass section [Cm] and two saxophones.
They [Gm] finally changed their name in [A] 1991 after they were [Cm] signed, and they [Eb] chose Radiohead
after [Gm] the song of the same name [E] from the Talking Heads [F]
1986 album True Stories.
[Bb] When Radiohead first [F] recorded Creep, their producers actually thought it was a [Gm] Scott
Walker cover song, and they just wrote [F] it off.
Needless to say, they were pretty [Bb] excited once they learned it was a Radiohead original.
[Eb]
[G]
[B]
And [Eb] speaking of Creep, [Gm] it might be hard to imagine [A] today, but when it was released in
[Cm] 1992 as the band's [Eb] debut single, [Gm] it really wasn't a [A] success on the charts.
[Cm] But when it was re [D]-released a year later, [Gm] it became the international [D] hit it still is today.
You know the noise at the beginning of the Binns title track?
That was a [F] group of kids hanging outside a hotel in the States [Bb] where Radiohead were staying,
so York [F] ran out and recorded them.
[F]
[N] [Eb] How [D] important is the order of songs on 1997's OK [G] Computer?
So important that [Cm] the band took two weeks just working on the [Gm] tracklist of the record.
Released in 1998, [Cm] Radiohead's EP [G] Airbag How Am I Driving featured a string [Cm] of numbers
on the album cover.
That was [Gm] actually a working phone number, and if you dialed it, [Cm] the pre-recorded voice
on the other end would say, [G] hello, that voice was Tom York.
[F] You know Motion Picture Soundtrack on Kid [Eb] A?
Even though it [Bb] was released 8 years [F] after Creep, it was actually written on the same [Gm] day.
So the cover of Hail to the [F] Thief?
Yeah, that's supposed to actually represent Los [Eb] Angeles.
It's [Bb] where most of the album was [G] recorded.
And did you know Tom York's dad was an amateur boxer?
Not [C] only that, but his old man actually tried to get him to [Eb] take up boxing too.
[Bb] We think he [F] ended up choosing the better career path though.
