[G]
Well, this [Cm] all, this band started about eight years ago-ish and she booked a gig at a pool hall
[Gm] and we played there every week until [Fm] we could get through this whole [Cm] bus which took about a year.
[C] [Cm]
[Gm] Mostly it was like us getting [F] together and playing [Cm] when everyone was in town.
[C] Just like a way to like do something different from what we were [Gm] all doing on our own [F] and just have fun.
[C]
And then we listened to the live recording and we [G] thought, wow, you know, we've been playing [Gm] a long time.
We kind of sound like a [F] band.
We have our own thing now.
And it [C] just felt [Cm] like it was time to make a record.
[F]
Well, I've never seen [Gm] the city.
[F] And it don't mean much [G] to me.
[C] But it's a long ways away [Dm] from here and away from here is where I [Cm] want to be.
I just feel so at home singing country [C#] music.
Even though we both shared [E] jazz gigs.
That's how we met back when we were 20 when I first moved to New York.
But you know, it's nice.
We kind of mix it up a little more now and there's a few tunes we do that [A] are way more back to all of our jazz [E] roots.
[B] Yeah, which is fun.
I still [E] can't play any jazz chords on the guitar, but she can now.
They're not that hard. I know.
[A]
[E]
[B] [E] The Puss in Boots, did I say?
I think it was like, well, once we did a gig for Nora at Bridge School, it kind of [A] officialized that.
We were standing in a [Em] circle with a bunch of musicians and we were like, what are you guys going to call [B] yourselves?
And I think we were all wearing boots.
It was just kind [E] of a joke.
Yeah, of course.
I didn't even know it was a cartoon.
I'm like, that's perfect.
Or like a ton of porn [B] sites.
Google [E] Puss in [A] Boots.
Corn or the cartoon.
So we're Puss in Boots [N] music.
[Bm] Neil Young, when we [C] played at Bridge School, he [D] said, you guys should call [A] yourselves, was it Daughters [D] of the Revolution?
Yeah, [E] I like your impression of Neil Young.
Sorry, [G] I stopped it in the middle.
[D] [G] [C]
I mean, [D] it's just so cathartic to have a band with two [A] girls that we're all, [G] there's so much that we can relate to in that [D] we're women in a [Bm] business that's predominantly male [D] dominated.
I mean, we're kind of like [Bm] this, I mean, I don't have a ton [G] of girlfriends that I can play music with, which I love.
And also, you know, what [F] goes on in your life.
[G] For me, it's just all connected.
