[B] [E]
[B] [C#m] [G#m]
[E] Hi, I'm Bill from Guitar Center.
[B] This is the chord of a GK Studio [E] Negra.
[F#] It's a flamenco [B] guitar.
[G#m]
[B] [E] So let's talk a little [Em] bit about the differences [B] between [E] a classical guitar with nylon strings and a flamenco [F#] guitar.
[B] There are several.
One that [Em] becomes quite apparent [A] when you look at the top.
If you look [D] closely here,
there's these clear plastic, [F#] in Spanish
[E] they're called golpeadores, [Em] tap plates, because the flamenco [B] style of music [Em] uses a lot of tapping on the body.
The [F#] player provides his own [B] percussion, if you will.
But other players who [Em] are not necessarily playing that [A] style of music can appreciate their [Em] presence because they take [B] the place of a regular
[E] pickguard.
But being as they're clear, there's no distraction in the beauty of the guitar.
[B] [F#]
[B] Most [G#] flamenco guitars are made [G#m] of a light wood [A] called cypress, where this one [G#] is made of rosewood.
[E] When a flamenco guitar
is made of a darker [Em] wood like rosewood or walnut, it's called a [Am] flamenca negra.
This is [B] called GK Studio Negra, just so you know.
This is an [Em] affordable version of a guitar that was built in collaboration with the Gypsy [Am] Kings.
It's comfortable for [B] all guitarists because of the thinner neck [Em] and low action.
It's really fun to play.
[A] [Am] [B]
[Em]
Let's take a [A] look at the body of this [F#m] guitar.
The back and [B] sides of this model are made of Indian [Em] rosewood.
The top [E] is solid [Em] European spruce.
[Am] [D] This neck is a [A] three-piece neck.
It's beautifully done.
You can [G] hardly tell where the neck joints [Em] come.
The headstock is joined [Am] here [F#m] and the heel
[B]
separates here.
That conserves [E] a lot of precious wood.
The Spanish have been doing it for a long [Em] time.
[Am] [B]
The fingerboard and bridge material on this [Em] guitar are rosewood.
If you notice, the bridge style on this flamenco [Am] guitar is quite different
[F#m] from a steel [B] string guitar.
The strings are tied.
[Em] It's an art in and of itself.
[A] It's fun to learn how to do it when you change your strings.
[G#]
[E] [A]
The rosette on this guitar is an intricate mosaic of wood strands
[G] arranged in a pattern and [Gm] then sliced [B] off like a slice of bread very, very thinly [E] and then inlaid into the wood.
It is a true art form in and of itself.
And there are many [A] people who spend their lives carefully making these [A#] intricate mosaic rosettes.
[E] The body is
bound, [F#m] as are many guitars.
But this one is bound with maple, [D] a nice wood that offers a beautiful [C#] contrast to the East Indian rosewood
[E] back and [A] sides.
Up here, we [E] see that there's an overlay or headplate on the [A] headstock of East Indian rosewood.
While [F#m] the neck is [G#] mahogany, you see this is a [D] totally different wood.
And if you look [Bm] sideways, you can see how it's been laminated [E] on there.
[Em] While we're up here, let's take a look at the tuners.
These are beautiful gold tuners.
They have what's called an ebony look [Am] button.
In times past, those buttons might have been actually [B] made from ebony.
But these are a synthetic material that's [Em] actually stronger and lasts longer.
[B]
[Em] The electronics [E] on this guitar are from Fishman.
It's the Fishman Precise System that has been optimized [B] to match this portable [Bm] model of guitar.
[B]
[E] The finish is high gloss polyurethane.
It's a gloss neck, gloss [A] top, gloss back and sides.
This guitar comes with a [G#m] gig bag.
