[G] Hey, what's up everybody?
George here from Scott Studio.
Hey, thanks for joining me here on YouTube.
Today we are doing a part two of a lesson.
Earlier I did a video on how to play the bass line on piano for shouting music or praise
break at your church for the pianist who don't have a bass player, it's a smaller church,
perhaps you got to fill in that week, something like that.
So today we are going to be looking at what in the world do we do with this right hand.
There are a lot of styles out there.
[N] So I'm just going to show you a few little patterns that I do.
You kind of have to have some liberty on how to arrange that to your liking or you may
come up with your own style.
But this is just a basic starter point for you to look at.
So before we jump into that, if you have not subscribed to this channel, do me a favor
right below your screen, hit that subscription button below for me [C] so that you can get first
dibs on piano tutorials here on YouTube.
Thank you so much.
Alright, [Db] so starting off, [C]
you've got your bass line, just a reminder.
[A] [Bb] [E]
[F] [Gb] [A] [Bb] [B] [E]
[Gb] [G] [A] [B] [C] Now mind you, if you didn't see that lesson, there's a course on my page, so go take a
look at that.
Now this right hand, [Eb] generally there are three chords that are common.
You have an Eb chord, Bb, E and G.
[F]
You have an F chord, C and F, or C, F and A.
[Am]
And then you have [Cm] C minor, but a lot of people like to do C minor [C]
[Cm] and [E] kind of slide off.
[C]
[E]
[Eb] So [E] Eb to E.
[F] [Eb] So you have Eb, [F] F
[Cm] [C] and then C.
[Eb] Alright, so a common pattern you have, [A]
[Eb] [A]
somebody [Cm] may do something like that.
[Gb] [A] [Cm] [Eb]
So you have Eb twice, [F] F and then C [Cm] minor, [F] F, [Cm]
C minor.
[Gb] [Eb]
Eb twice, [F] F, [Cm]
C minor, [F] [Cm] F, C minor.
Alright, let me slow it down so you can hear the patterns with both.
Now mind you, if you're not used to playing shouting music or praise break, it's going
to take you a little bit to get the coordination between what's going on in this left hand
to line up what's going on in this right hand, because you're doing two different rhythmic patterns.
So I'm going to take it slowly.
[Eb] [Gb] [Cm] [F]
[Cm] [B] [Eb] [F]
[Cm] [F] [Cm] [B] [Eb]
[Gb] [Cm] [F] [Eb] [B] [Cm]
[Gb] [Cm] [F] [Eb] [B]
[C] Okay, alright.
Now, so you could do that.
[Eb]
Alright, now another thing you could do, [F] [Eb]
[F] [Eb] [F]
[Cm] that's how I started out, you know, playing shouting
music is a little pattern [Eb] like that.
So you have an Eb [F] chord, F chord [Cm] again, and C minor.
The only thing we're doing now is just different inversions of those same three chords.
Now, what type of rhythm you want to do with it is kind of up to you.
[F] [A]
[B] [C] [F] [A] [Eb]
[F] [A] [Eb] [F]
[A] [Eb] You know, it's kind [C] of up to you what you want to do, you know.
I don't want to lock you into something specific, but I just want to give you some tools to work with.
Okay?
Another common pattern is, [F]
[C] so [F] [C]
[F] [C]
[F] [Am] [C] you have these C octaves, [F] and then it goes to F.
[A] [C] Now the good thing about this is if you're hitting the C's, these two [F] fingers are already
right over the F and the A.
[Cm] [Am] And again, [F] I kind of slide off that Eb to the E.
[C] Okay?
[F] [Cm] [C]
[F] [C] [F]
[C] [F]
[C] Okay?
[Bb] [Cm] So you have, [F] [C]
[F] [Cm] [C]
[F] [C]
so you're just basically hitting those C's four times,
[Ab] and [Eb] then you [F] have F
twice, okay, [Cm] and then [C]
the slide off of the E.
Let me do that again.
You got the C four times,
[F] F twice, [C]
and then the C.
Okay?
[F] [Cm] [C]
[F] [C]
[F] [C]
Okay?
Alright.
So, just so you can see how some of this would sound if I kind of flip back and forth.
So if you start here, and I'm going to keep it at that [Bb]
[Cm] tempo, okay?
[F]
[Cm] [F] [A]
[Cm] [F] [A] [Cm]
[F] [A] [B] [Cm]
[Gb] [A] [Cm] [Gb] [A]
[Cm] [Gb] [A] [Cm]
[F] [Cm] [C]
[F] [Cm] [C] [F]
[C] [F] [C]
[F] [C]
Okay?
So it's not much, but it gives you at least a little bit of variety, and it gives you
a starting point.
Now, I know a lot of praise breaks out there have a lot of stops.
They have a, you [F] know,
[Cm] [N] a lot of different stuff going on.
It kind of depends on who you're working with.
If you're the only one playing, if you got a band, and if you get pianists and organists,
this really depends on your scenario.
But the idea of this is, if it's just you and the drummer, or it's just you, okay?
What do you do?
So if you got some simple things like that, that'll at least get you through, and then
you're going to naturally develop more things, more into your style of playing praise break
music or shot music, however the Lord uses you to play it, okay?
Alright.
So I hope that was helpful for you.
Just some little tools for you to use.
