Practicing Double-C Banjo chords
Start Jamming...
Playing around with a little bit of double C tuning today.
You start with an open [F] G tuning and you take that second string and you tune it up to the
C just [D#] like you do in mountain modal.
[G] [E]
And then you take that fourth [C] string that was a D and you tune it down to a C.
So it's [G] C, [C] G, [Gm] C, D and you keep your [F#] fifth string in [G] G.
So another one of those spooky mountain sounding tunings.
[D] [C]
So this is one of those tunings that I sort [F] of think of as a one-trick pony because there's
not a whole lot of chords that you can play with.
It's the kind of tuning that it's really meant more for melodies and single notes.
If you want to play, there's a couple chords you can put your [F#] finger on the second fret
and first string.
[C] That's a C major.
If you take a, put your finger on the first string, third fret and the third string, [F] second.
That's an F.
[C]
And then you can do a G7 by barring on the second fret.
Put your finger on the first [N] string, third fret and the third string, fourth [Dm] fret.
[C] That's enough to give you the 1-4-5 [F] of most of the major songs.
[E]
[C] [G]
But the songs [F#] I've been learning or working on seem [C] to [A]
[G]
have
[D]
[A]
[C] [G] [C]
[G] [C]
[D] [C]
[A]
[C] [G]
[C] [A]
[Am] [C]
Those riffs are kind of a swipe from Soldier's Joy.
That's a song I'm working on.
