Pompa-Baldi plays Poulenc's "Les chemins de l'amour" chords
Start Jamming...
There's a beautiful waltz by Poulenc that he wrote on words of Jeanne Anouilh.
It's from a pièce théâtrale,
a play
named L'Eucadia.
And Poulenc wrote this beautiful waltz.
It's called Les chemins de l'amour, the paths of love.
Of course, it's for voice
and it was sung by Yvon Printemps,
but it works perfectly for the piano as well.
I was talking to
a student of Poulenc, a fantastic pianist, great musician.
His name is Gabriel Takino and he told me Poulenc told him
that the reason he wrote basically the piano score to contain the entire melody
that the voice is supposed to sing is because this Yvon Printemps
had a beautiful voice, but wasn't a very
good musician, wasn't well trained.
So
he had to make sure to provide the melody so she wouldn't go out of tune.
[Ab]
Thanks to that, it works perfectly for the piano solo.
So filled with melancholy, it talks about lost
paths of love
and trying to find them [N] within one's own heart
unsuccessfully.
It's very poetic, very beautiful, very tender.
I hope you enjoy it.
