It's time to wipe the dust off those guitar theory [F] notebooks and grab your mom's credit
card to buy some [Eb] tabs that you're not going to be able to play for the next 5 years [Dm] because
we have new Polyphia featuring the legend himself, Steve Vai.
Now that is a guitar flex if I've ever seen one.
Why waste time?
Go!
[F] [D]
[C] Oh, [F] we unplugged.
[Gm]
[Bb] That room is extreme [E] white.
[A] [F] [G] Oh, nice motifs.
[Dm]
[C]
[Bb] Well,
[A] [Db] this is sounding a [Dbm] bit dark.
[Dm] Harmonic minor.
[D]
Yep, [Bb] that was a [G] [A] quick reason for me to never pick up the guitar again.
[Dm]
The [Em] dram's coming in.
[D] [Dm] This is 6 [Bb] minutes too, oh my god, okay.
[A] We're doing a whole virtuoso piece.
[G]
[Dm]
[C] Oh, yep.
Seductive.
[Bb]
[Am] [A]
[C]
Tum-pa-wum.
[Bb] Woot-de-do-do.
[A]
[Dm] Oh my god, he's using the V too.
[C] [F]
[Bb]
[A] [Dbm]
[Dm] We metal [Bb] AF but still gotta go [C] to grandma's for dinner later tonight, okay.
[Bb]
[A] Ah, [D]
f***.
[C]
Damn, [E] this is a journey so far.
[Bb] A lot more progressive than the other tracks.
[A]
[G] [A]
[D] [Em]
[F]
[Bb] [A] There's just a lot of notes happening.
[D] [C]
[F] Oh, hell [C] yeah!
[Bb] This is a little more on their [Am] [Bb] roots [Db] with some of these [Dm] lead lines here.
[C] [G]
[Bb]
[A]
[Dm] [C] Oh, now we're on a rooftop.
[Bb] [G] These boys really can't pick a spot for band practice, okay.
Oh, that's some [D] kick right there.
[Dm]
[G] Steve coming in to show the boys [Gm] how it's done.
[D] What?
[Bb] I feel like I'm in a clock.
It's just winding.
[C]
[Bb]
[Gm] [F]
That's pretty, man.
[D] [C]
[Bb] That's whammy [Am] abuse.
[Gm] [Am]
[Bb] [F]
[D] [Dm] [C]
[Bb] [Am]
[Gm] [Am] That's [Bb] noises.
Damn, man, he's going for it.
[Dm]
[Bb]
[Am]
[Gm] [Am] [Bb]
Oh, he's just getting warmed up, [Dm] Steve.
[Bb] [F] [Gm]
[Dm] So much whammy.
[Am] [Bb]
[F]
[Dm] That was sick.
[Bb]
[Gm]
[A] [Bb]
The drums too, man.
[Dm] Thick accents.
[Gm] Oh, okay.
[G] Alright, [Bb] Steve.
The duetting.
[Gm] The three, oh yeah, dude!
[Am] [Bb]
Just three dudes playing the guitar, okay, [F] man.
[Dm] [F]
[Bb] [Gm] That's the promo shot right there.
That's hot, dude.
[F] [Bb]
No, you [Dm] are
They
[Bb] just [Gm] summoned Okay.
[Am]
[Bb] This [Dm] always happens at guitar [Eb] jam sessions.
Just a random dude with a trumpet chair.
Okay.
Wow.
Okay.
[G] Whoa, that was, yeah.
[F] Damn, that was wild because it's very still Polyphia.
Steve came in, he did some king shit right there, which was expected,
but also just the way he came in visually was so cool.
And how he just
He was just like, yeah, don't forget.
Hey, Polyphia, these are the new kids doing crazy fun guitar stuff.
But don't forget the OGs here.
And he killed it too, man.
I love his approach too because you expect someone like Steve
And of course, he's such a unique player.
He's not just shreddy shreddy for the point of it.
He's incredible shredding and melody and noises and everything.
He's just an incredible guitarist.
But to see him come in here on a track [Dm] and live with that whammy bar, again,
not that the whammy bar is a new thing,
but it definitely gets abused much more in modern guitar world stuff.
And it was cool to see him just make an entire literally solo appearance,
[G] creating melodies and motifs just with that whammy bar, basically.
[E] And then trailing [D] off of it here and there and having just really cool lines
that were [Dm] just so different and [C] again, unique.
But I mean, that's what Steve does.
He just makes you go, what [D] just happened?
So that was a dope feature.
I love how they implemented [G] him in there.
And then, yeah, like Polyphia in general,
like this track, Six Myths, did not feel like a Six Myths song.
It felt much shorter.
It was interesting because it definitely had some motifs here and there,
but it was a [F] lot less [Dm] like, I'm not going to say formulaic
because none of their songs are really formulaic,
but a lot less like verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus.
It was structured in just a much finer, different way.
It was much more progressive.
It's cool to see them in this light,
which I also love the little metal aspects,
even with Scott bringing in his V guitar and stuff and just shredding.
It really reminded me a little bit of that classical thing they did,
that cover they did when they started Polyphia.
[E] Just a taste of it.
[G] And it really felt [F] like, yeah, this is [Eb] like the story,
even with Scott bringing in his V guitar and stuff and just shredding.
It really reminded me a little bit of that classical thing they did,
that cover they did when they started Polyphia.
[F] Just a taste of it.
And it really felt like, yeah, this is like the story of [Eb] Polyphia in one [Em] song
and then having Steve Vai.
I mean, that's a good flex, dude.
That's a good flex.
I've talked long enough.
If you guys like this song, be sure to go show them the love.
This is a must if you look at a guitar in your [Gb] life at least once.
You need to watch this.
It's Guitar Virtuoso.
[Dm] Just virtuosity.
Virtuoso.
It's guitars having a good time, all right,
and making good music with legends.
