Hey, my name is TheCaster and today we'll be learning how to play the Muse B-side improvisation
called Piano Thing.
[C] As I saw, [F] [Ab] there was not a tutorial [Abm] on YouTube on how to play it, so I made one.
[C] Starts on a low C, the lowest one you got.
[F] Moves up to a [Db] F-sharp, G-sharp, [Abm] E-flat, B, and then [Eb] E [Em]-flat, E, G.
[C] Now what's important here is hand placement.
It's of vital importance.
This part, the left hand should be on C, E, and G.
It's gonna move down to a C octave and then back up.
Your right hand should be on C, E, G, C.
The C should move down [Em] to a B and then a B-flat.
[C] One thing to remember during this portion [Ab] is that [C] all chords roll towards this note.
All of them.
Right.
The technique to do it is to use the pedal to create a rolling action.
Like so.
When you send out that B, you get to C, and your left hand will bang out a C, C octave.
Create a rumble effect.
It's just B-flat and C major again.
[D] Interrupt that with a D on the left and a D on the right.
Here we're rolling a D major chord with a D.
[F] Interrupt that with an F.
Then we're gonna throw up an [Fm] arpeggiated chord.
This one, F, G, G-sharp, F.
I'm in an uncomfortable position now, so I might mess up.
But it should sound something like this.
[G] And it ends on a [F] G.
[Fm] [G]
If you mess up, it takes [Ab] practice.
But [G] that G, [Cm] then C, [F] G, [Eb] F, B-flat, [F] G, and [C] C is E.
E, C, G, E, E minor, C.
I mean, that's a C major again, nothing.
[D] D major, like the head of a chord.
[Eb]
B-flat chord.
C moves up to a D.
And when you hit that D, hit the E-flat again.
Moves down to a G.
[E] [Em] Like so.
[Eb] I'll play it again.
[C] [Em]
[Gb] [C] E, [Em] B, F, E, [G] B, G, E-flat, E, G.
[C] You can end it here if you choose so.
I'm ending it here, as it sounds, you know, like an ending.
But in reality, the song stretches on for several more minutes.
And [Ab] those minutes will be to come in future videos.
Thanks for watching.
