Hey guys Phil Wickham here.
I wanted to share with you how I [Bb] play the song
This is amazing grace, and you literally need to know four chords to play this entire song
and
And probably the hardest part for those you guys
Maybe you're starting to learn guitar is the key that I played in I played in the key of B
Actually, it's in B flat and I tune the whole guitar
Down a half step and I play in B
But it's actually B flat which is really confusing if you don't understand it all then forget
I just said that but four chords pretty much.
It's B
Which is pretty much like you [Eb] know you have the E down [Bb] here if you go all the way up to this fret
It's a B and [Eb] right up here
Is an E and right here is the minor
[G] [Eb] G sharp minor
[F]
Sharp and I [Eb] leave these two when I'm playing B
I always leave these two strings [Bb] open the first and second string just because I like how it rings out
But let me show you now
[Eb]
that's the whole intro B to E
[Bb] Now
[Eb] using some of those four chords.
This is how the verse goes
[Bb] Who breaks the power [G] of sin and darkness?
[Eb] Whose love is my
It's so much stronger
[G] the king of [F] glory
the king above [Eb] all king
Do the same thing again for the second half?
[Bb] Who shakes the whole earth?
With holy [Eb] thunder and leaves its breath
in all it [Gm] wanders
the king of [F] glory
the king [Eb] above all king
the verse
That's the whole verse right there in the course is very similar.
It goes this is amazing
[Bb]
This is unfailing [Eb]
love
That you take my place
That you bear [F] my cross
You lay down [Bb] your life
There I would [Eb] be set free
Jesus I sing [F] for
So [Bb]
as far as the chords go there
They're super easy [Fm] because there's not many of them and if playing in B is hard for you guys
You can [Bb] always capo on the third flat and playing playing G
So you just be like G C E minor and D almost the whole time
And then the bridge is the last part which is really [Ab] two chords over and [Bb] over it goes
Worthy is the land we slay
[Eb] Worthy is the king who conquered grey
[Bb]
Worthy is the land we slay
[Eb] Worthy is the king who conquered grey
Just B to E over [Bb] and over so I mean that's pretty much the whole song
You can have kind of little variations with some chords and stuff
But hopefully that helps some [C] of you guys who trying to learn how to how to play the song
For those you worst believes out there feel free to take this and use it in your churches and hopefully y'all [Bbm] can worship with it
God bless you.
