Hello, I'm Gera and today we're gonna be listening to PFM Impressioni di Settebre.
[F]
So this song was requested by [C] Aki H.
Thank you again for the support, [F] I really appreciate it.
And yeah, I'm glad to be discovering [E] this new music that I haven't heard before.
But let's get to the band today, PFM.
[F] Apparently the biggest progressive rock band from Italy.
They were founded in 1970.
They had some English lyrics here and there, [E] it seems like, in a few albums.
And they're the first band from Italy that made it internationally.
That's a short thing I gathered from Wikipedia.
One fun fact, [B] Italy borders Slovenia, so [Em] not that far away.
So this is a live video, [G] so it's gonna be great to actually see them play their instruments.
[C] Because it's always fun to see, especially in prog rock, prog [E] metal.
So yeah, [F#] let's go and listen.
[Em]
Impressions from Settebre, probably, the English title.
[D]
[A] [Em]
[A]
[Bm] [Em] So it's confirmed it's in Italian.
[D]
Great vocals so far, man.
[A] Especially since it's live.
Makes me appreciate it more.
[Em] [D] Nice bass.
[A] [Am] I like the build [Bm]-up.
[Em] Here come the drums, I believe.
Maybe not.
[D]
[A] [Em] Nice keyboards.
[D] Love the sound of them.
[A]
[B]
[Em] Great build-up.
[D]
[A] [Em]
[D]
[E] [A] [Em]
[G] That was nice melody, keyboards.
[D] Maybe just doing slightly too much.
But that's [A] okay.
[Em]
[G] [A] [D] Love the bass sound.
[A]
[Am] [Bm]
[Em] [B]
[A] [E] Nice riff.
[Em] [E] Nice.
Sounds [G] very open to me.
[A] [D]
[E] Especially in section D.
Great riff, man.
Really like that.
[A] Fucking excellent.
[Am]
[Bm] Great [Em] [D]
[E] [A] [Em]
[D]
[A] drumming as well.
Lots of switch-ups [Em] and stuff.
I noticed they drummed it.
Nice.
[D]
[A] [Em]
[F#] [Em] Nice feel.
[D]
[A] So now the guitar follows that same melody from [E] before, only in keyboards.
Maybe.
[A]
[E] [Em]
[E]
[Em]
[E]
[F#] [D]
Okay, so.
That was P.F.M.
[Em] Fucking excellent.
Let's [D] start from the beginning.
I really like the [F] build-up.
That they made in the beginning.
First just the guitar, simple notes.
And the vocals, which is the first thing you notice.
The vocals are excellent, especially considering this is live.
[E] As I said, it makes me appreciate them even more.
But then of course, continuing the build-up, you get bass, a little bit of drums.
[D] In the middle of that build-up.
And [E] the keyboards.
But then of course things pick up after the build-up.
And you have that excellent melody on the keyboards.
I really like the sound of them.
I like the sound of the keyboards.
But the only thing is about the cures and that melody.
Maybe he tries to do a little bit too much on the [D] keyboards, I'd say.
[C] I would prefer just a simple melody.
None of playing [F] around too much, I guess.
That's just me.
Because I like those kind of melodies.
Kind of more melancholic melodies, I guess.
That just are there to add a lot of atmosphere to the song.
But it's [D#] cool either way.
But then it goes back to the slow section.
It's kind of the same as the build-up, [F] but with drums.
But then the spicy thing happens.
The incredible riff in the middle of the song.
I really love that riff, man.
I really like it.
It's a very long riff.
Lots of variety in the riff.
They [C] could have repeated that riff even more if they wanted to.
Because it wouldn't get boring easily.
I think one of the reasons I really like it is because
I believe it's moving just one semitone here and there.
Which adds that sound that I really like.
At the end you get the guitar solo and then it follows into the keyboard melody.
I really like how that's done.
Overall I'm really impressed by this song.
Great musicianship, great build-up, great songwriting of this song in my opinion.
It's not anything too technical, but a lot of atmosphere, a lot of heart in this song.
Another thing I didn't really mention is the drums.
Some great drumming, not really sticking to the same beat through the whole song.
Lots of fills, lots of change-ups and everything, man.
[G] Great first impression of P.F.M.
I would gladly check out more of [B] them.
The fact that it's Italian [C] language doesn't really bother me that much.
One of [E] the things that it just does when you don't understand the language
[D] is you cannot really sing along to it, I guess.
You can't remember specific sections based on the vocal lines. [F] That much.
As [G] opposed to if you have it in English or in your native [E] language.
But that's about it, man.
Still sounds great in a language that I don't have [D] a clue about.
And yeah, also be sure to like, comment [C] and subscribe.
Always helps
